Whistling at 60mph +

Featured Replies

All of a sudden about 2 weeks my octavia fl has started whistling once I go over 60ish didn't doit before and I can't see what it could be, anyone else have or heard of this

I have heard a lot of reports, mine does it at a higher speed which I think is one of the mirrors. It doesnt bother me enough to sort it out but you can use masking tape to seal off doors etc and eliminate all the possibilities. I seem to remember one post talked about the grille too.

Also been known for the wipers to cause this phenomenon.

Happened to me on a previous car (not an Octy) and it was a split seal on the sunroof.

Don't have a sunroof, it's just randomly started so I assume it would be covered under warranty, I think it's coming from behind or above me somewhere,

Check the plastic trim (rubbing strip) on your driver's door hasn't come loose at the front? They're not glued all the way along and can come loose over time!

I would certainly check this out, as from what you're describing I think it could well be your issue. It's been a problem for a fair few people.

Is yours a hatch or estate? I had a similar noise on my estate from new. Some adjustment of the rear passenger door by the dealer seemed to solve the issue.

More than likely will be ur rear quarter glass instead of using some form of silicon I just wound the rear window down put a coaster inbetween the trim where the window runs up and tapped the coaster a few times to push the glass back and it cured the ever annoying whistle for me

I had this and the drivers door seal was replaced (under warranty) at the first service. The noise has recently started coming back so I will get it checked out when the car is serviced again in a couple of weeks but I won't be impressed if i need a new door seal every 18000 miles....

My car does a whistling sound from the top of the drivers door, around the seal, however the weather has to be damp and the car needs to be doing nearly three figures. I mentioned it to the dealer and they had a look and reset the seal but its now come back. It's an irritation but I'll live with it for the time being. It must be caused by something specific but the seal is absolutely perfect as far as I and the dealer can see so possibly design fault?
