There's sometimes good group buy prices on Sachs organics on vagoc.co.uk, dunno whether there's anything going on at the moment though. Sign up, post a quick "welcome" message and you can browse the group buy section to see if there's anything current

nice one i will have a look, any one else ...

You going dmf or smf?

Matt

Is this any good? Ebay item 250732855921

I doubt that's "uprated" at all at that price. Also, they don't even hint at it being uprated in the description, and I haven't heard great things about Techniclutch (rumour has it they're OEM parts, just painted). I'd avoid.

i am not overly sure what would be the best option, i want something that is going to be strong and cost effective. After all i am only on a remap.

I would just replace with OEM

but i want to be able to drive the car hard and not have to wait till i get over 2k before planting it and i dont think the standard clutch can handle that

Hi folks where is the cheapest place you have got a sachs full clutch kit or helix kit, i dont mind if its a SMF or DMF all i am after is something strong and something thats not going to spunk loads of money. The reason i ask is because my clutch is slipping after a remap so i need something strong and i need it quick :-(

If your doing to for the need to boot it whenever your like then you`ll need a SMF. Even with a sachs clutch you`ll still need to wait till 2k rpm or you`ll just ruin your flywheel. If its being mapped then it`ll drive more like a petrol, so the power will be higher up the rev range, meaning wheen your driving quickly, you`d keep the revs up anyway. Seems like a massive expense of £1000 just to cope with a remap, when really, a OEM £150 clutch will do the same job if driven correctly.

cheers for your help matt, i have spoken to browns today and they are pricing me up a clutch. I am thinking that if it i go for the SMF then if i ever go for a new turbo then i can up the power, i will see what they come back to me but it is looking expensive

Mardigras motor sport are cheapest online, £980ish I think. If there's a chance you'll be playing with the engine later on then it'd be a good investment tbh.

doing it wrong!

I generally don't 'floor it' until 2.5k and my clutch is fine, 106k, mapped for 10k now.

Buy a sachs clutch if you want to drive with all the power all the time. Budget for a grand with new flywheel.

cheers mate i am getting some prices as we speak

If your names big jase you get 10% discount at mardigras motorsport

Supposedly i am a good customer lol!!

Im i right in assuming that the engine's idle is mated to the transmission. And that because its not configured to run a SMF that in the long term could damage the gearbox and even the crankshaft??? :wonder: (Its such a mine field of information)

Sorry mate I dont mean to but, Its worth investigating am looking at a new clutch and flywheel. And it seems the DMF will get my vote there has been alot of very HIGH powered fabia's that run a DMF with out any problems. Plus the DMF will be alot easier to live with.

Of the people I actually know with tuned PD's only one is running high power (255bhp) & the DMF still, and that's rattling like mad.

Matt

Has anyone come up with an answer to this?

I recently fitted a hybrid turbo and noticed my clutch had a little slip the other day in 4th at about 3k, I did have 4 people in the car and it was only a brief moment before it caught again, but dont want to risk it too much longer; especially if I ever want to map the turbo in properly.

Helix @ mardigras

Matt

Awesome do a Helix kit with DMF for just over £600; is there anyone beating that?

Not seen it anywhere else tbh
