Thats the badger, I'm only 15 mins away from Awesome, so getting hold of one shouldn't be a problem, just need somewhere cheap to get it fitted.

I fitted my own turbo, but gearboxes are the one thing that still frighten me...

"The Heix Road Clutch Kit includes the Cover, Plate and Bearing"

I think the bit at the bottom probably means that it's suitable for installation with a DMF, not that it's included.

there are 2 options on the site, one is ~£500, one is ~£600, the difference being a "twin mass flywheel" is included with the more expensive kit B)

I'm amazed at the small difference for a flywheel to be included!

There's sometimes good group buy prices on Sachs organics on vagoc.co.uk, dunno whether there's anything going on at the moment though. Sign up, post a quick "welcome" message and you can browse the group buy section to see if there's anything current

You've missed it...

It's probably still worth asking the vendor for a price tho.

In relation to the awesome deal which is good, i think i would want to replace the fly wheel as that can also recieve wear and tear especially since i have no idea how the previous owner drove the car and from my understanding (correct me if i am wrong) but the dmf is a weak point to the clutch so it seems like a smf is a stronger although more expensive option.

Does the pressure plate need to be upgraded or is it possible just to do the friction plate.

Im only running a remap at 180bhp

Ive just bought the Techniclutch fast road clutch with dual mass deliverd to my door £500 when i opened the box its a Sach Dual Mass and Sach Clutch but with a few parts changed for stronger ones i will report back next week when i fit it

Now that is intresting as most people have commented ive heard bad things from techniclutch....

All these people who give bad reports have they actually fitted one of there clutches or know some one who has and then given bad reports or is it all just because its not a expensive brand so it must be crap? and to "fit in" you must have a Sach or Helix clutch?

As i said in my thread my mate who has my old ST24 does have one and does drive it very hard so if they can stand up to his abuse they cant be half bad.

Yep not just Vag's read threads with people with escort Rs's, Silvia's, Astra's you name it. Stuff along the lines of there the wrong size, its gone bang, the after care is terrible etc.... Just googling around mate

Helix is the baby you want

I blew a dmf up after 20k on a measly 195bhp

Not upto the job, they struggle at 130bhp and stock torque!

Lol! Ive must have done over 100k with an smf over 3 cars and no gearbox issues!

Only gearbox issue i had was when the standard dmf went kaboom and took the box with it!

Ive had 3 helix's

1 sachs

1 standard

Helix gets the vote every single time

i did the same but as i said what changed my mind was when my mate said that was what he had in his car and he loved it, i will post pic's tomorrow of the kit

I had a teckniclutch in my teg engined ek9

Was worse than stock and was slipping like a freshly caught haddock

I've never fitted one, no. Cos it's £500, and the vast majority of opinions I read on them said they were crap (I read VAG forums, Fiat forums, couple of other marques). Since there were way more bad posts than good, I didn't chance it and spent the extra on something I knew was good (i.e. Sachs). Nothing to do with fitting in, believe you me I'd rather have spent £500, but it was looking like I'd be spending £500 and then £600 on a Sachs to replace it when (not if) the Techniclutch failed.

Out of interest, what are the uprated parts in your kit? As far as I'm aware, it pretty much only comes with 2 parts, the pressure plate and the cover, so I don't see how either of those can be broken down into component form to be uprated.

For the sake of £100 i would of got something tried and tested tbh

if you can get a full sachs fast road clutch and dual mass for £600 i would have i will add to my thread the pics of the kit
