glowplugs miracle!

Featured Replies

.................although next time I do it I shall defo invest in one!

I bought a set of new glowplugs last year and hadnt quite got round to fitting them. Yesterday the truck didnt want to wake up, it did eventually, but the engine churned over for ages before firing. This morning the truck would have none of it! The first time it has let me down in a year, not bad for a £510 whim purchase off ebay! Anyway managed to borrow the missus's Hyundai for work. Tackled the glowplugs with 'analogue' spanners, do-able but a right fiddly chore, especially for someone with chubby fingers like mine! Put it all back together, wouldnt start. Mucked about with allsorts, realised I'd not connected the power bar thing up to the wire! Still no joy, after several hours of trying everything I took the relay out, tapped it a bit, put it back, worked, bingo. All it needed is a new relay (or just tap the old one when it plays up!)

arse!

Although I did get the new plugs in!

The glow plugs are a bit fiddly on the Felicia, especially the one buried behind the injector pump. I've heard of people have to take injectors out to get a decent purchase on them. Bring back the good old days when cars were designed with maintenance in mind!

Ahh, I remember my first two cars: A Hillman Imp and a sunbeam imp sport, I seem to remember 2 spanners a pair of pliers and a screwdriver was all you needed to do almost anything mechanically!
