Fabia Issues

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I am looking to purchase a Fabia VRS 1.9tdi pd130. ideally registered between 03 and 06. I have done lots of research and have found that there can be many problems with turbos, the type of turb used on different age models. I have heard the kkk turbo is likely to blow, yet ibe also heard its fine and will last the life of the car. Im looking for one with less than 100,000 miles. Remapping will be a possibility but not for sometime. Looking for some real hoenst advice about what to look for in a used VRS

The all have KKK turbos, so as far as thats concerned just buy one and enjoy it, if it goes it goes. Mine lasted 123,000 miles. Just listen out for any funny noises

Thanks matt, any idea how much a new kkk would cost to replace/refurb?? Would skoda Service history gurantee the turbo has been serviced regularly??

IIRC, TPS (VW's trade outlet) want £750 + VAT for a service exchange OEM one.

I can't see anything in the service schedule relating to checking/playing with the turbo. Although, from what I've read, the correct oil & oil change interval is important?

As you hinted at it in the strapline, cam belt should be 4yrs/60k miles, whichever happens first.

Great advice, thanks. Matt stated to look out for odd noises from the turbo, any idea what sort of "odd" noises i should look for and what they might indicate??
