Yeti radio upgrade

Featured Replies

First of all I want to ask if I am the only one disappointed about the radio choice in Yeti?

Blues - fair enough, a basic radio with basic functions.

Swing - you pay quite a lot for an upgrade, and the only thing you get is a radio that looks nicer on the outside. The functions are the same as in the Blues model. It is a 2-din radio, so you loose that nice storage area below the radio.

Neither Blues nor Swing have SD card slot, something that should be standard in all car radios. Now if you want SD card, you have to pay big $$$ for Bolero. Of course you get 6-CD changer (who uses them anymore anyway?!). I know that it is possible to get that funny USB adapter cable, neither Blues nor Swing have nice MP3 browsing interface.

So I decided to put a nice after-market piece in place of the Blues that I have, but for some reason my dealer does not know (or is too lazy to find out) what parts are required.

Looking through catalogs I see:

1. kit for additional ï¬tting of non-original radio AZO630001 for vehicles without preparation for non-original radio; (this would be my case, I guess)

2. kit for additional ï¬tting of non-original radio AZO 700 001 for vehicles with preparation for non-original radio

3. kit for ï¬tting a non-original radio AZO 700 001 & AZO 700 001 A

Does anyone have experience in changing Blues to After-market?

Thank you!

Judging by the lack of response, I think you might be better off asking this question in the ICE, Security & Insurance forum http://briskoda.net/forums/forum/7-ice-security-and-insurance/ where there are several threads discussing changing radios in Skodas.

My understanding is that you need a new radio surround (either 1 DIN or 2 DIN sized depending on your new radio) and a wiring harness to couple things together. You are likely to lose any visual displays on the new radio such as parking sensor outputs or external temperature readings (if these are present on your existing radio).

I do not think I would lose anything. I did not opt for parking sensors (worked as a valet in my student years, so I can park a Hummer blindfolded :), temperature is displayed on the little LCD screen that also shows MPG and other good stuff. I think I need the kit shown in the photo below... Or I could trade my Blues radio with someone who bought bare-bones Yeti without radio at all (as far as I know those are prepared for after market installation).
