Collection time tomorrow (friday 13th) ;o))

Featured Replies

After what seems like a long time she's finally being collected tomorrow, there was an issue with the dealer getting the paperwork to me yesterday so we were scrabbling round trying to get it done today (not easy when your on a client site all day 200 miles from home)

Never really thought about it but I'm collecting her on Friday 13th :bandit:

Will post some pics up when I have got her own, I will be so glad to get rid of the 1.6 Petrol Astra(not a turbo in sight) hire car I have had for the last couple of weeks, never driven such a gutless car, doesn't help coming from a twin turbo BMW with loads of Torque, at least it will make the Superb feel... Superb :giggle:

Good on you! Enjoy the moment!

Enjoy, hope it goes well ,:S :D:thumbup:

Good luck SW1, enjoy!

look forward to hearing & seeing more

You won't like it, you'll miss being cramped up, you'll miss.......

Enjoy it, great feeling picking up a new jam jar.

Good luck today.

I too came from a Company Astra 1.6 petrol estate. You will get a real buzz with your new car.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

I'm back, just a quick update before I have to get back to work. So far the experience has been fantastic, the dealer (marlborough Skoda) in Isleworth were top notch in getting the car ready for me, had a little wait for paper work but they were all very pleasent and accomodating. It included my brolly, torch and latest v7 maps. The car hasn't been filled up so the dealer took me out to the local garage to get some fuel and run through some of the features.

Onto the car itself, as you probably all know by now this is my first ever practical car... :giggle: I'm used to buying fairly sporty little cars that I chuck around and have fun. I haven't driven a Superb since Dec 5th last year(and that was only for an hour). I had concerns that I picked the wrong colour, Aqua blue however this is unwarranted and its a lovely colour.

I was really surprised again what a lovely car it is inside & out, really comfortable, great acceleration and top notch build quality. It doesn't feel big when you are driving and certainly not like a barge. The 170 bhp feels lively after the hire cars I have been driving, not as fast as my BMer diesel but that's to be expected given the size and type of car it is, I can see this being great on the long journeys I need to do.

The brakes take you by surprise, if you touch the brakes it has quite a sudden reaction then the brakes go a bit soft if you keep your foot on them (they probably need to bed in). I'm a late braker :o to me the Superb is an odd beast, I will just have to change my race driver ways.

The gear change is really smooth, sat nav worked a treat.

I'm getting a strange error message about not being able to use links for images from FlickR, it keeps saying I'm not allowed to use that img tag??? anyone know how to fix this

To all of you waiting it's well worth it, the things I do for our new dog. She's going to love all that room in the boot.

never seen that colour before, looks much better as an estate, and the rear lights look fresher and more cohesive B)

Looks fantastic! I just hope mine can find its way to Isleworth soon too!

Car looks great.

One extra add-on to consider are mud flaps. They are cheap and easy to fit yourself.

Enjoy!

Nice...and much better than the saloon

Harrumphhh!!!!- better in which way. The twindoor is a great car having come from a string of estates and people carriers. It is huge, carries almost as much as the estate (and more than my previous Avensis estate) has great presence on the road.... and with lower CO2 and BIK payments for company car drivers

+1

Drove home from the station after a night away with work, the Superb was soooooooo comfy it's untrue. Also went on a twisty moorland road, handled fantastically well, supple, gripped well and body roll nicely controlled. Love driving this car, really wish I'd got one 2 yrs ago instead of my BMW!

SW1 - nice pics and glad you like the car :D

A beautiful car and such a treat to read about how it handles. The colour is very fresh indeed, cool. And thanks, Slinksuperb, for your write-up, especially the gear change as I'd been considering the automatic. It was also the first time I've actually seen the 4x4 badge at the rear. Unobtrusive. SW1, I was wondering if you are used to 4x4 and if you've noticed the difference yet. (Mine is not due until mid July)

Nont Sarah's perchance?

No, I'd been to London, so was on my way back from Wakey, Mrs wanted a ruby so had to take a detour from my usual route, hence a right turn at Grange Moor rab and onto the B6118 above Mirfield, a nice test of handling!

Brought me out at the bottom of Bradley, so up Bradley Road (should be renamed badly surfaced road!) to fixby. The Superb was excellent on the twisty stuff and the rough stuff.

You're welcome! In my humble opinion, it's a better action and feel than I had on my previous bmw, possibly the smoothest on any car I've owned or driven.

Thanks guys for all the comments, to answer the question about 4X4. I can't honestly say if I noitce it or not as I have never owned a car with 4x4. The car handles very well around corners and roundabouts without hardly any body roll and grip is great, The 170 Diesel has plenty of power in it and pulls along such a big car with little effort.

My last 4 cars have been rear wheel driver BMer's, The superb has a brilliant ride and is a lot more comfortable then my last BMer that had sports supsension and run flats.

I set my Samsung Galaxy S2 up in seconds with Bluetooth streaming and handsfree, I don't think I will be using the MDI interface I paid for. The loud speakers I went for seem good and I'm happy with the performance.

Got to say I'm really pleased with it and have no regrets at all, everyone appears to love it. I've got the usual ribbing of my friends on Facebook, I'm kinda of happy with people thinking that, it means their will be less on the road

As someone previously stated Aqua Blue looks like silver in bright sunlight, in the shade you can clearly see the blue, it's a really nice colour.

You'll find that a lot of people prefer the look of the Combi. The rear 3/4's of the saloon just don't work well and it looks out of proportion. I think this has a lot to do with the size of the rears doors and need to accommodate the hatch opening.

Whereas the Combi rear is much better designed with correct proportions and the rear looks better designed/integrated.

Not meant to offend, just stating personal opinion and that of mags, car shows.

Cheers

Great car and colour too  it does indeed 'change' colour in the light, from silver to blue to grey almost, it's not quite as blue as I would of liked (as in the similar VW / Audi blue) but I still like it non the less

+1 IMO the saloon's rear end just doesn't work and it is dare I say it ... ugly  I certainly would not of changed my MKI Superb for one.
