Think people are realising how good Skoda's are and how good value they are over Audi which I think is a good thing. Still can't work out how Audi are still selling as many cars as they are, even basic ones. I saw an expected delivery date of some cars and it wasnt far off a years wait. I could get a Morgan handbuilt in that time.

well 3 cylinder has done 250k miles,so put them up!!,to be serious though the VRS is a great car fantastic performance and would I buy one,hell yeah but missus would'nt let me have one!!,as for Audi still selling well we bought a Audi A3 sportback 2.0tdi 130bhp 2005 with 54k on the clock, full leather with all the toys £35,000 new we purchased for £10,000 so in 5 years lost £25,000, so why buy new? I always buy new well nearly always the 1.6 crtdi 105 new but for just going to shops and work the 1.4tdi 3 pot which I love its a brilliant little car although bit more decibels :thumbup:

Not the same car, but Greenline 2's that the dealers were selling second hand cost more than new ones were doing, with the 20% off offer.

I suspect that this is due to the tiny number of them about for sale (only 3 showing as second hand within the Skoda network).

I'm not sure how this will affect the VRS prices though

One of the reasons I ordered my GL2 new was that the GL1s available nearly new had held their value pretty well, so with the VAT offer there wasn't much in it. With the advances between the two it was more than worth it. Good sign. I know its not the same model that the OP asked about, but I expect high end models will prob hold value in a similar way to the fuel efficient ones...

Same as mine with black roof and wheels and no extras apart from rear electric windows. More evidence that extras don't affect resale value? ;)

That sounds about right, baring in mind they expect it to be worth more than the GMFV, hence it's not GFV.

A safety margin is factored in allowing for a deposit for the customers next time round the system.

If they were more realistic, but something unexpected happened to the used car market it'd cost them a fortune if you think about how many cars are on PCPs.

Thankfully the Mad Monk at least has got a handle on market economics. The price you pay is irrelevant. The car is worth what the market dictates at sale time, even if you were given it free with the boot full of £20 notes, the passenger seat weighed-down with gold ingots and the glove-box full of platinum bracelets set with diamonds.

The VAT-free deal is likely to depress residuals however. I am glad I negotiated £2k off the price when I bought mine pre-VRS-VAT-free, I am even happier I kept me cash and took a PCP with a GFV. The vat-free deal has effectively (financially) frozen me into this 36 month deal, I normally early-term this sort of finance but it probably wouldnt make economic sense now. The upside is the car is actually worth keeping on!

Did the same as you Latte. Haggled and and with my trade in, I only paid just under £13k and that was pre-VAT offer :yes:

Unless they make some dramatic breakthrough in fuel/performance technology, I'll be keeping my vRS for a loooonng time :p

All of this naysaying about the twincharge and DSG etc... I say prove it or shut it. I would argue that VAG test their stuff to destruction during development before putting anything into production with mega-tight tolerances and an ensuing high level of confidence.

Yes, it's a complex engine, but supercharging and turbos in themselves are tried and tested power solutions, governed by software that protects things even further.

Exactly the engine has been around for a good few years now without any major problems that I've heard about
