Hill hold control

Featured Replies

I read about HHC on the Yeti forum, but does it exist in some form on the Fabia (maybe all Skoda's). I'm asking because I notice that the footbrake appears to hold the car on a slope when pulling away, it appears to hold the car on the brake for about half a second before the car accelerates away. If so, it's a great little feature and I thank Skoda for including it :-)

Or am I just really skillful at hill starts on footbrake ?

I could be corrected on this but as far as I'm aware, only on the VRS

You get it as standard on the Fabia SE TSI 105 DSG

The Greenline 2 has Hill Hold as standard.

If you specify ESP+ on a Fabia it includes HHC. ESP should be standard on all cars in my view. I had HHC on my Scout and found that it was a bit variable. It needed to be on a steepish slope before it would work. Hoping it works better on my new Fabia - when it finally arrives!

Yes agreed, have been testing it this morning and it's definately there. I'm a little surprised as I didn't notice it in the specs and I'm not sure that the Skoda UK website even has it listed for the Greenline 2 model, although it is listed elswhere when googling around. :)

We have a 2011 VW Transporter van (5sp manual) at work, and it seems to have this little feature you seem to be describing. If you go from the brake to the accelerator when setting off, there is about half a second where the pedal is up but the pads don't seem to have released. There is definitely no roll back for the brief moment. I haven't tried it on anything really steep (stick with the handbrake to save the clutch), but it is a curious little feature.

ive the elegance and specced the esp plus but did not want the hhc, i really dont trust this technology and i prefer to be in control of the car, but if it works for you great success, lets hope you dont roll back into me :giggle:

Agree - my 60 plate Elegance TSI 105 DSG has HHC - believe it is standard on DSG cars? When you remove your foot from the brake then you don't have the normal "hold" of a torque auto box and they may be some slip backwards before the clutch engages, hence HHC.

One of my friends has a 3-week-old Golf GTI with Hiil Hold.

It's a manual though he's warming to it and is finding quite useful.

Okat, so apparently i've been corrected  ..... Must be on all of the DSG specced cars then, no?

Hi,

my wife's Fabia Elegance TSI 85 has the HHC as part of the ESP+ option, actually like the feature. Not been without issue though as it stopped working for about a week :wonder: However by the time we got it in to the dealer they found no fault and Skoda UK Technical had no answer as to why it stopped working for a few days, then fixed itself :smirk:

Also have the feature on our Yeti; been fine so far.

TP

Do you need this though really? Just put the dsg in drive and hold on handbrake until you feel clutch engage when you put foot on accelerator

Yes, even on my 140 ps VW Transporter 7 speed DSG van! And also on my Fabia 105TSI DSG. Works 100% every time

haha! I did know other motors had it, I just assumed it was the VRS in the fabia range that had it. It is the only one with DSG and therefore HHC as standard though isn't it?

We have it in our newer ford transit connect vans. Pretty handy if you've got some over eager prat behind you sitting bumper to bumper! :)
