Finally I a Skoda owner! Well soon to be...

Hello guys,

I thought I'd finally say hello. It's been a while since I've been lurking on this forum. The last time was a few years back when I was considering getting a Fabia VRS. Well what can I say? I've had a Swift Sport in the past and most recently a mk2 golf 16v (my dream car as a kid). As lovely and raw as the KR engine pulls you all the way to 7k, I've had to get something more reliable and modern which is why I'm now the owner to be of a very nice 56plate octavia VRS in corrida red.

Now  funny thing is, I was going to go 'green' and get a fiat 500 for road tax and cheap petrol purposes. After a test drive though, I dont think I could bear the whole low power thing. I'm not being a snob, I honestly didnt feel all that 'safe' driving something which I'd have to rev the nuts off of in order to do a simple overtake manouver. The lil fiat itself is a very charming bit of kit and pretty chuckable too in the corners upon first impressions. The price tag is a killer though, it just isnt worth paying the premium for the 'it' car of the moment, essentially, it's a micra, but a lot nicer. It's funky, easy to drive and easy on the juice, but simply not my bag at all.

Then by chance I passed the Skoda garage, went in to look for mk1 Fabia VRSs and noticed a bright red octavia on the forecourt. 24k miles, FSH, 1 owner and £800 more than the fiat which also had 24k on the clock. Took that out for a test drive and wow, what a machine. the 2.0tfsi unit pulls with little if any lag at all throughout. Much better built cabin, and granted it's not exactly 'funky' in there, but I quite like the restrained subtle look :) plus the boot is MASSIVE, it's on par if not bigger than my old mans 5 series. Needless to say I'm very impressed with the car and look forward to picking it up.
