Now that looks mighty useful. I personally would prefer the all windows close option only, but I suppose they can be disabled if wanted...

Q.

Have you looked at Dean's web page in the tech info links? He has installed another similar gadget from Alientech. Has many wizzy features.

Ah, thats where I recognised it from! Thought it all sounded familiar, but thought it was due to the name change of the product...

And actually reading from both sites, it makes it all the more familiar... Sounds like the AutoWindow is nothing but a copy of the Alientech one...

Yeah, both look almost the same but the AutoWindow has better finish (all the electronics are inside a plastic white box)

At list, they care to support the Skoda Octavia :mw:

is there a uk stockist for this?

I was checking, and they are located in Canada. Its look like they distribute there product from there.

This gadget is very small and fit in a small padded envelope. I am pretty sure they can mail it to you this way.

Best thing is to send them a e-mail.:D

None that I could find using the great google gonzo, but the site ships internationally (and so does Alientech). If you're thinking about getting one, it might be usefull to see if there any more takers so we might be able to get a small discount/save on p&p...

I see they list the Passat, but no mention of the Superb. I am going to assume it would work in mine. Have to say as well the price sure looks inviting allowing for currency conversion.

Cheers

anyone else up for a group buy?

I'm up for a group buy if it means shaving a few bop off the price. If they dont do discounts I'll probably wait for a while...

Quinten your location is a bit dispondant.....

im sure we will catch Ncarring Dutch4x4 and Dmac soon!

I'm happy to have the window up/down facility by just holding the key in the lock in the lock (for up) and open (for down) position.

I guess you guys all have r/c/l, and holding a key in a lock is something you're not familiar with. :p

What lock? ;)

Paul, location doesn't really matter... Could be an excuse to make it to a Thursday meet sometime?

spose the location could be worse... you could be on page 3!

Oi Paul - leave us alone - we're not bad people ..... grumble ... grumble .... bleeding young whippersnappers .. no respect etc etc

Anyway off to drown my sorrows

They say: AutoWindow has a status indicator LED used for installation and diagnostics. The status LED and Installation Wizard guide you along as each wire gets attached to the car! The LED shows if good connections are made to the correct car wire. This unique feature removes guesswork and makes electrical installation bullet-proof - even for beginners! After installation, the status LED shows diagnostics during operation and is helpful for reporting troubleshooting steps to support.

If you take it literally, you will not have any problem:D

Just to clarify - this is what used to be called the "Volkswindow" not the "Alientech" device. I have had a "Volkswindow" since September last year, just never got round to fitting it :(

I have a contact here in Teesside that can get hold of the modules if anyone is interested.

Let me know.

Yes, Mark, I'm (and I think Paul too) very much interested if these can be had in the UK without too much trouble.

Sorry, got to this late...

I do indeed have this alientech window controller on mine.

The unit itself is very easy to install, but the removal \ replacement of the door panel can be tricky.

It's a nice unit, really handy is this heat (well, it was nice out) to open \ close windows on approaching \ leaving the car.

It's a bit posey.. but thats not a bad thing :D

Do it.

Dare I say... Group install after group buy? With someone like Ian pointing out what to touch or leave unscathed... :D

why not let Ian fit them all...but dont let him near the dashboard lights....;)

Seem to recall your were pretty close to 'em too Paul. ;)

Looking at the pin outs on Dean's webpage, I get the feeling that when Ian said "shouldn't there

be a pin there", it was actually the illumination pin.

Something to check, at least....

Rob.
