I have a Fabia 1.6TDI that is about 7 months old and in the last week the glow plug light has started flashing occasionally while I've been driving. It tends to start flashing after I've been driving for ~ 1 hour but doesn't do it on every journey of that length. I seem to be able to make the out bound journey with no problems it's just coming back that it occurs. So for example twice I've driven to Dundee in the morning with no problem done a days work then drove home when the light started flashing then today I drove over to Glasgow around mid day with no problem but on the journey home about 5 hours later it started flashing. I have had a similar problem with my last Fabia which turned out to be a blown light but I've checked them all and they are fine. Could it be a over heating problem due to when it's occurring?

Common problem this, and the usual cause is would you believe it, a faulty brake light switch.

Agreed, but it's usually associated with a complete failure of all 3 brake lights.

Ok cool, I did get a friend to check my lights for me including the brake lights and he saw nothing wrong, could it be an intermittent problem? Also does it cause a problem driving it with the light flashing? It is booked in for a service at the end of the month but I have some long journeys coming up before that and I don't want to do any permanent damage. Thanks
