Buying a new RS

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

Viewing a used vRS this weekend (2001). Anything in particular with the Octavia I should be looking out for?

Ta

may seem obvious so sorry it teaching to suck eggs.

1. there are three vin numbers on the car on in the engine bay top left (i think), one in the front screen and one under the carpet in the boot floor on a paper sticker. Should all match one on log book - better still hpi it.

2.Don't think i'd be buying one of these without a full service history preferably from skoda as they lend themselves to thrashing and dirty oil will really kill the turbo (change mine every 5k)

3. have a good look at the brakes for lips on the disks as even oem quality ones from gsf aint that cheap to replace.

4. Tires at around 100quid a courner can be a little upsetting if you need all four.

5.Check to see they've got all the keys as they're not cheap from skoda - about 50quid for a boring one and around 120 for a flip out one.

6. Genuine VRS mats if you need to replace then cause the previous pikey owner half inched them (GRRRRRR) there about 60 quid i think

hope this helps -i'm sure other ppl will be along with there tips :-)

How much is it up for?

my Octy vRS is up for sale!!!

As Anton has said really plus all the usual stuff like checking panel gaps and the panels themselves for filler. Might also be worth making sure the coilpacks have been changed and that they are not the old troublesome "H" ones.
