Kenwood DNX520VBT - tempted?!

Featured Replies

I am tempted by the Zenec 2010 - anyone know any dealer info? what are the prices like?

Slightly less trivial than an RNS510, but trival none the less :) . There's an extra box and bit more cabling than an OEM nav to hide away behind it. It's still a very quick easy job to fit.

A part from hiding the cabling is it as easy as fitting a normal radio or is there aerials and other bits to play with?

You just stick the included magnentic gps antenna on the metal beam in the dash as with a retrofitted Columbus.

Dose anyone no if this is dab ready for when they do turn off the analogue signal?

Don't worry there won't be any turn off, there is more chance of DAB going!

Just a thought as didn't want to spend 1k then find all of it dose not work

I had a DDX5022 with bluetooth and I've now got a Columbus. Personally I much prefer the latter.

Now I've got the Kenwood customised and setup nicely and my dynamat and speakers done, there's no way I'd swap back to a Columbus. This just sounds too good.

Would be interested on reading a write-up on what you've done Nick.

Hi Guys,

A new member here, looking at this unit myself for a Seat Leon.

I have a few questions regarding the functionality that the manufacturer doesn't mention on the website.

1) Does the unit show the "name" of the radio station (i.e. Radio 1, 2 etc) you are listening to on the navigation screen while you are driving?

2) When someone phones you, does it display the name from the phonebook on the screen, or just the incoming number (in the case where the name is in the onboard phonebook)?

3) Is there any form of voice control for this unit (navigation, phone etc)?

4) Can you plan a route while the vehicle is in motion, or does it only allow you to enter a route when the vehicle is stationary?

5) How fast does the player skip through tracks on a USB pen/CD/DVD whilst the navigation screen is displayed, and does it display what is currently playing?

I'd be grateful if someone could answer these, as it is forming part of my decision of whether to buy one.

Thanks,

Tom
