vaccum box buzz?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

There is a vacuum box that a load of vacuum pipes plug into. The box is located on the left side(drivers) just above the strut top. For a while now its been buzzing on rev's. Although its not caused any real issues other than annoying, i decided it was time to change it. I bought one from a scrappy as they are expensive brand new. Got it off of another 06 plate fabia (same as mine). The problem is this part seems to be a different revision. Not sure if its newer or older, but either way the electronic connector has a groove in it and wont fit.

My question is this:

Is it worth me grabbing the other connector from the other car and wiring it on?

Whats this box called and does it have any negative effect when it starts to go?

What were the differences in revisions? Any Ekta owners out there?

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

Lee

bumpy?

Its called a valve block i think and contains a number of valves, one of which controls the egr iirc.

Other than that I can't reallt add much, other than I got an egr fault light on the dash which had the valve block buzzing after switching off the engine, but a good 'italian tune up' cleared the fault and it has not retuned.

I did get myself a haynes manual afterwards which has proved really useful tbh.

Surely one of the techs will be on to help you out later

I removed the valve block gave it a blowjob and put it back. Now the buzzing occurs when engine is switched off much like the poster above.

Any ideas?

I have exactly the same problem...

See the video here:

The level of the sound is before a couple of months, now it makes the noise higher than in the video... I still don't know what is the problem, exactly, but I think that the EGR is soiled (the car is at 49 500km)... and this is the problem. If anybody knows something more about the problem... Please... :) Also one more thing - is the haynes manual good for the Octavia mk2? I see that this manual is compatible for my car:

I would like to buy one... :) Thank you, and sorry for the offtopic.

Best Regards.

Is there any oil coming out of the little hole on the front of the EGR?

Phil

Hm... I don't know... never checked it... You mean by the little hole - the hole with the hose or something else? Never removed the hose from the egr...

This is mine before 1 000km:

And the valve before it:

I had this problem and replaced the box. What model engine did your replacement come from and what model is your engine

Surely the ones between the ASZ and BLT will be different

Oh, so sorry... Didn't read the topic correct... Mine is never replaced, It's just buzzing... This is my stock box, but I don't know why it buzzes... My Engine is 1.9 TDI-PD BXE from 2010 /manufactured the end of September 2009/.

Best Regards.
