Replacing Injector Wiring Loom

Featured Replies

Hey guys. I have another fault code telling me I have a problem with the injector on cylinder 1. Also, the car often loses power and judders as if I'm losing cylinders while running. turning off and on the engine seems to clear it most of the time, but not all the time.

doing a search for the error code brings this:

18074/P1666 - Valve for Pump - Jet: Cylinder 1 (N240): Electrical Malfunction

Possible Symptoms

* Irregular rpm

Possible Causes

* Wiring and/or connections to/from the Valve for Pump Jet

* Valve for Pump Jet

Possible Solutions

* Check wiring and Check / Clean all connections

* Replace the cable-tree to/from all the Valves for Pump Jet

* Replace Valve for Pump Jet (replace them all !)

Does anyone know how to go about the replacement? nothing in my Haynes Manual. Also where to buy one?

Assuming a PD engine it is the loom to the injectors that runs under the camshaft cover on top of the engine. Remove the camshaft cover and you'll see the loom, unplug it at each injector and at the plug at the gearbox end and fit a new one. You should be able to get one from a dealer or the VW run TPS centres for around £70. A faulty loom tends to show an error on number 1, presumably as it's the furthest injector away.

Great! thanks. I'll be off down the dealer tomorrow then! thanks for all your help in the forum guys! I'd be lost without you.

so far I've managed to replace my entire dash and two airbags, clean out some widget which was full of black gunk, I don't remember what it's called now and after I fix the loom on the injectors, I should be fresh out of diagnostic error codes to work on! at least, for the time being! then it's a full home service and hit the road for another 30000km!
