variable servicing?

Featured Replies

my car has now covered 8500 miles, and the computer says "service in 900 miles" that would make 9400 miles... I assume this means its set to variable servicing? anyone else experianced this? or have you peeople who have topped 10k just serviced it at 10k?

thanks.

No - that is fixed servicing - 15000 kilometres or 1 yr; 15,000km is 9400 miles.

Variable servicing is up to 18,000 miles or 2yrs

As above, fixed service is $distance or $time, and the countdown starts at "service in 1_000 miles", at $distance-1000 or $time-31days, whichever happens first.

10,000 miles or 12 months whichever is sooner on the Fabia vRS

Mine has just bleeped at me for 9300...it can wait till 10,000 I'm sure...

Bloomin' eck...a lot of money for some oil and a filter.

If it wasn't for warranty and full service history I'd do it myself :)

Can't say I weren't expecting that figure though for the service, was always around that on the old car...

indeed, you could get an independant to do it cheaper, and retain the warrenty, but, like with the fiat, I like to build a relationship with the dealer, so they are on my side if things go wrong

definately much better than the £169 i was quoted at the first dealers!!

Just a thought for anyone going for a service. If you care about your paintwork, don't let them courtesy wash it. A trainee grease-monkey with a gravelly sponge is my experience. On previous forums I've been on, members have found that not only specifically asking for NO WASH on the sign form but also leaving a large card on the dash saying PLEASE DON'T WASH ME usually does the trick. I've read some real horror stories in my time after dealer courtesy washes.

they valeted mine for me, and it was fine :)

If they have an in house valeter (sp?) they are normally ok - sprays it with cleanining agent, jet washes, washes, dries, hoovers - done.

Got 3 years free servicing so nothing to worry about :D Apparently its worth £500...

Got quoted £126 for my 10,000 service.

Damn. Lot of money...

Was £109 for me I think. Thought that wasn't too bad :S

Considering the first one is just an oil and oil filter change? Or is it air filter too?

It will not be an air filter change until 40K
