Battery light flashed on

Featured Replies

Morning all! normally at this point id reach for the handbook but today its not close to hand! i noticed the battery light appear for a split second this morning, from experience this normally means a problem on the charging system, ie battery or alternator problem etc can anyone confirm this for me? ill nip and test the battery later for a start!

cheers Mark

Hi Mark

You say the battery light flashed on for a split second, please describe a little better when it did it ?

As when you switch the IGN on the light should come on and stay on till the engine starts and starts charging then it will go out

and stay out unless there is a problem and would come on to show lack of charge.

so unless the light is on just on IGN then there is a problem anyway, but I believe the wire could brake either o the alternator, or

there is a connection on the gearbox (I think)

Hi, cheers for the reply, i was driving up a slight incline when it appeared, but as you mentioned the wire problem near the g/box it could well be to do with that, as i believe that is why the traction control light comes on after a few miles, [has been doing so for a month but havent had chance to check underneath yet] but its the first time the battery light has appeared, hope all that makes sense

cheers mark
