service advice

Featured Replies

hey am looking at doing a full service on my mk1 octavia vrs and wanna put some good spark plugs and ht leads on. what would ya reccomend as bosch super 4's seem really cheap and is £5 for oil and fuel filters too cheap.

what grade oil is best??

may have a few more questions just asking :)

Get in touch with Dave Hawthorne at Sere Motors in NI. He can probably get genuine parts delivered to you than most local places can do them.

For exmaple, I just bought a load of bits and:

Oil filter: £2.75 +VAT

Air filter: £7.02 +VAT

Fuel filter: £4.09 +VAT

As for the plugs, Bosch super4's have a flaky reputation on here. A lot of people don't like them. Personally, NGK BKR6E's are perfect for the engine and are really cheap too.

As for oil, If you're gonna change it yearly, or after maybe 6k miles, 5w40 oil is fine. No real need to go for the 504.00 long life stuff. Just make sure it meets the VW502.00 spec, as Black vrs oct said and you'll be fine. Get Quantum platinum from the dealers.

p.s. You don't have any HT leads either.

ditto the above - have used Sere for the last year and VERY good service
