Hi guys,

My 2001 PD100 Fabia is suffering from the dreaded PAS issue. It is fine at speed say above 5mph, but when below that and whilst parking it is seriously stiff.

Note - My interior lights also flicker when all the 2 front windows switches are engaged.

But the weird thing is, the steering works fine after some driving. But then again it doesn't sometimes.

I'm out of ideas.

I am thinking angle sensor personally. A scan with vagcom should confirm this in the steering-assist module.

Might also be a voltage issue due to a flaky battery though. PAS saps a lot of juice!

cheack the earth cable if u dont get a fault on a vag com scan, if it is the earth cable it will cost about £15 to replace rather than the £70 for a sensor or £700 for a pas pump
