The difference of power can we make up?

hi friends whats the difference between 1.9tdi 90bhp and 110bhp model octavia diesels .are there any ?after market fitments to make up these difference?my car has got rear drum brakes can i change to disc brakes? where do i find them?any valuable suggestions please.

Not 100%, but i think the larger .205 injectors are the main difference. Lots of people upgrade their injector nozzles.

A tuning box or remap will increase a 90 up to 115 with no problems (speaking from experience)

i don't know about the octy but on my old xsara the difference between 90bhp and 110 was an intercooler

The 90bhp has the old fixed blade turbo and wastegate setup and the 110 has the later variable VNT turbo, there are also differences in injector spec.

It's not going to be finacially viable to uprate a 90bhp spec car up to 110 spec car. It would probably be cheaper to trade in the 90 for a 110.

You would be better off getting a tuning box which will up the power and torque above that of a 110 for a couple of hundred pounds.

Brakes...cheapest way would be to go to a scrap/breakers yard.

dear sir, i had fixed power box onto the 90bhp octavia diesel and using ak&n filter (meant for dodge ram 5000ccturbo dieselin usa with slight modification) the power box is from east coast racing of uk(www.dieselchipyuning.co.uk)i could feel the increase in power.do not how much?.i had placed order for bigger injecternozzles and intercooler with www.tunit.co.uk.these are yet to be delivered.i have rear brake drums .and front discs .how do i update the brakes?any advice? please

On Skoda's both the 90 bhp and the 110 bhp engine have VNT turbo's.

dear friends thank you , any advice on the brakes .i have front discs and rear drums,is it better to go for rear standard discs or jut upgrade for 4 piston front brakes and retain the rear drum brakes.

Don't for a second think you are not right so Skoda's brochure for the Octy is slightly misleading.

It quotes the 90 as having intercooler and turbocharger and the 110 as having intercooler and turbocharger with variable blades.

I wonder why they don't metion the 90 as having a VNT setup?

I stand to be corrected, but the 90 bhp lump does not have variable blades - unless things have changed in the last couple of years.

When I imported my SEAT Toledo back in 2000, I had a choice of engines - 90 or 110 (UK only offered 110). I went for the 110 after a lot of research, including hearing one of the differences being the variable blades.

When I worked at SEAT I was under the same impression. Whn joining Skoda and re-doing the Diesel section of training for master tech i learnt that Skoda use the VNT turbo on all current and recent turbo diesels. I did bring up that I had been told on a SEAT diesel course that that was the difference between the to powers but was told not so with Skoda.

Even changed a 90 bhp turbo for sticking vanes recently.

So not sure if they changed at sometime or if Skoda allways have run VNT turbos.

That will explain why I was so impressed with the 2003 Octy 90 bhp I test drove a couple of weeks ago!

I thought it would have felt a lot different to my SEAT, I'd written off the week before. But if felt as good as I remembered my SEAT Toledo.

Is there any diff between the 110 TDI Seat engine and the 110 TDI Skoda engine? The reason I ask, is that the Octy I have just got (39000 miles) seems quicker/smoother than my SEAT (34000 miles).

Infact, the whole car feels better.

I think both the Leon/Toledo and the Octavia in 110 bhp form have the ASV coded injection pump diesel engine, so no there isnt a difference.
