R32 Front ARB price?

Featured Replies

Right then....more jobs to do on the skip....

  • Front top mounts (uprated Seat Cupra R jobbies)
  • Top mount bearings
  • Subframe bushes (Seat Cupra R solid bushes)
  • N/S & O/S track rod ends
  • R32 ani roll bar
  • Front ARB bushes (23mm SuperPro's)
  • Drop links

My question is this...

What is a good price for a new R32 front ARB?

Your thoughts and opinions please! ;)

Steve

Not sure of price but get the parts from TPS save a lot from main dealer.

I have not long fitted

•LCR Front top mounts (much stronger than VRS ones) 3 times the cost though £25 each

•LCR Top mount bearings (£6)

•TT Hubs

•TT WishbonesN/S & O/S track rod ends

•TT Rack

•Wishbone bushes (SuperPro's Catsor adjustable ones)

•Already had S3 upper lower braces and R32 ARB fitted.

Those LCR top mounts fit well and leave the top strut cup sitting on the turret and not high in the air like the VRS ones.

That lot certainly transformed my handling..

I think they are just over £100 from VW. I'd be interested to see what TPS would charge. I need to do this mod soon.

i got mine from avs http://www.vwspares.co.uk/, was a while ago, think it was around 70ish.

good thing is steve, is you (like i) hate the audi dealer with a passion (tho vw is no better either,) and by buying bits from avs, they have access to all main dealer parts, and will deliver to you so you dont have to go in to the dealer!! If you are ordering other bits then they will add it into your order and avs are top guys!

What is the advantage of the TT wishbones & hubs?

Wider track? But the change in hubs, what does that do?

If so how does that affect the geometry of everything?

Random question here....

Is it worth buying the 22mm SuperPro bushes for the 23mm bar, this way it's going to be a good tight fit?

I dont want to buy the 23mm bushes just to find it doesnt clamp round very tight.

Steve

the tt wishboes are cast and are stronger, they allow for the fitment of castor adjustment bushes which are a major improvement, they also when mated to a tt hub allow for far truer suspension geometry and a tt/r32 setup in effect which has better camber/castor positioning.

Track will be the same, but the effect is massive, you can literally track your car as a tt with this setup.

Ask bowders!

keep trying with avs, and as for bushes, speak to pri racing, he will tell you which ones to get

or look at some of my threads mate.

This thread bout half way down shows the diff in the hubs.

http://.net/forums/topic/196701-need-some-pics-and-info-plz/

basically it meens you can have a lower front end on the car but still keep the same geo on it as std.

Get the lot mate as with the power you got you need it and it will be the ultimate car mate.

Will be ordering the TT 'cast' wishbones and the full set of SuperPro bushes for them (off-set rears).

Will my existing hubs and balljoints still fit? Or do I need to replace these? I'm not bothered about lowering the car anymore than it is now, so I might retain the hubs to save on cost.

Can this be done??

Steve

yes they do, i run them without issue,

if you use your existing hubs you need to space the balljoint from the hub with a washer, it pulls the taper of the balljoint correctly into the hub, without this the balljoint will not locate properly.

The washer should fit snug over the balljoint and be a couple of mm stainless.

Your car (considering how good it is) really warrants a full tt conversion like billy and bowders have done, still if you want to run the interim setup you can like i do (everything tt/r32 except the hubs), i have for well over a yr without issue.

I'll go for the full TT set up then.....

Do these look ok?for the wishbones and ball joints?

These will be my wishbone bushes.

I'll have to find somewhere for the hubs.....Any ideas welcome!! :)

Thanks guys for your input!!!:thumbup:

22mm or 23mm bushes for the R32 ARB? Has anyone had any problems with the 23mm bush being too loose? Just thinking 22mm will be a snug[er] fit if nothing else.

Steve

i went with the 23mm iirc cant comment on the 22mm, no problems the 22mm would prob fit though

Went for 23mm in the end.

All ordered.

Thanks for your help folks!!:thumbup:

+1 with what Luca said.

The TT hub has a longer area from the suspension strut to the lower ball joint. This longer area allows the wishbone to sit at a far better angle to the subframe / Hub. This is even more noticeable on lowered VRS's like mine as my original wishbones in the VRS Hubs were facing up wards from Subframe to Hub causing stress and wheel hop on tight cornering. Now even on my lowered VRS the TT wishbone are near horizontal giving far better turn in and greatly removed wheel hop. The TT wishbone are slightly longer than the VRS ones which in turn pushes the wheels out very slightly further at the bottom and in the arch slightly more at the top(can be adjusted on the ball joints) making a more negative chamber which is felt in turn in. It is like night and day to the VRS set up. Especially with the Castor offset bushes.

Will be ordering the TT 'cast' wishbones and the full set of SuperPro bushes for them (off-set rears).

Yes you can keep Hub as Luca states doing what he suggest.

It is not about needing to lower your car further but it you have lowered your car you will probably notice the wishbone pointing up wards as i mentioned , unless you have lowered only slightly so you would still benefit from a full conversion, but not absolutely necessary

A Quick Rack is a very good addition if you are fitting a R32 FARB and TT wishbone though

I captured pics on the whole job that I will do a usual DIY guide when i get round to it.

wise words from Mark, it is worth doing the full conversion (i just need to find some well priced hubs) and i am set.

You wont regret it either way Steve
