turbo help

Featured Replies

Right im looking around at new turbos and have no idea what the hell to get, what it means, ect ect. So help is needed for backward country bumbkin down ere that dont know much!!

Im not after going for the fastest ever, im after about 220-230bhp, i was advised to go for one of turbo dynamics 1000 pounder to get this, they told me this would run about 260bhp, but when they mapped the car to 220-230 ish the turbo would remain really cool and run really well without putting any strain on it. i dont have a fmic at the mo, but with my car on 65k miles and im just thinking is it better to do the turbo now before it all goes tits up? Also is there any sort of market for my oem turbo what could i exect to get for it (if anything)

Please keep it basic with discriptions as im not great with the turbo talk!

Many thanks and im sorry i know this gets asked alot.

If it were me I would have a chat with a local tuner and get some advice. Unless of course you're planning on doing the work yourself?

I'm not sure who would be near you in Cornwall, but up the M5 a bit you have Turner Race Developments in Stroud who took care of my baby. Might be worth giving Dan a call there and talking turbo's with him.

I ran my Hybrid (200BHP)with an SMIC for about two weeks whilst I sourced the FMIC and although it ran ok it did (understandaly) suffer heatsoak when caning it and smoked like a chimney on full chat.

I would personaly sort out a FMIC before going down the hybrid route, there will be alot of heatsoak as mentioned and you dont want your new hybrid going pop :wonder: Also clutch and brakes if you havent uprated these already.

I have just had my hybrid pd150 fitted and mapped last week and i payed around £900 for mine and mine is running 231 bhp/330 lbft.

Getting the brakes sorted in the next week, clutch is sorted, so brakes then fmic then turbo?
