Superb and VCDS

Featured Replies

Is there a list of what can actually be changed on the Superb Combi using VCDS? I know that it's possible to swap the coming home/leaving home lights from the bi-xenons to the fogs, or to add the mph speed display by setting the country to Australia... but is there a list of what else can be changed?

Tried looking around here and on ross-tech, but couldn't see anything obvious.

Cheers

Not sure about a list, I certainly haven't seen one, but I have the following done:

Seatbelt warning chimes turned off (driver and passenger seat)

MPG display calibrated

Fog lights for CH / LH lights

Australia

Electric tailgate beeps disabled

Brake lights flash quickly under emergency braking (untested).

Thanks for the quick response. I thought I'd read somewhere that the brake lights were meant to flash under heavy braking.

When you change the country setting to Australia, I assume you don't loose any other functionality, and that km can be re-selected without the need for vcds?

Yes spot on, there is no loss of functions, you actually gain the outside temperature when the KPH would of been displayed, which IMO is far more useful .

If you then decide to go abroad in the car you can enable the KPH display in a few seconds via the MFD, it takes no longer than to change the xenon's to 'tourist setting'.

Can you remember where these codes were please? I mean, where to look - or is it just a case of going through the different windows and seeing what options thre are under "Addaptations" for each heading?

Can you just explain teh Australia thing you were talking about? - cheers.

I cannot echo enough, be very careful with VCDS or you can totally screw your car.

First thing, do a full scan of the car and SAVE the file as this will save all the controllers current coding in a text file so should you mess something you can manually enter the correct code.

Whatever you do dont go and change things without being sure, the consequences could be you end up needing a tow truck.

I appreciate that. Really not looking to really pimp my ride, just some novelty stuff. Have switched on the 'horn' when the alarm is activated and Hijack setting so the doors lock after 1mph. Just after small basic stuff like that really.

eg, windows close on locking etc...

It's been a whilst since did them on my MKI Superb (about 5 years ago) so cannot remember from memory.

They will however be pretty obvious when you see them.

As for the Australia bit, that only works on the MKII Superb.
