Have you not learnt anything from the numerous oil threads on here?

You need to know the VW spec, you are looking for VW507.00 always check before buying.

Yep! It's VW507 spec.

check out the following thread from the perfomance and maintenance section on here. It is full of good information Link B)

Sorry get out of bed on the wrong side?,

Not at all, sorry if it sounded a bit short, but just about every oil thread will get answered the same - forget the 5w30 (etc) spec as this is not what is important, it's the VW50?.?? spec you need to concentrate on.

It just seems that people either don't do a search and read similar threads or indeed can't be bothered to read the handbook.

Nah Ots ok just kiddin lol, well I'm going to give it a go "how hard can it be"!!, change oil , oil filter , fuel filter that it 47k 2008 1.4tdi shouldn't be difficult I think it's just 3.5 litres of oil so might as well get the best, mobil 1, Castrol edge or the quantum stuff the dealers use

This is 507 and is alot cheaper.

Never heard of this before, how good is it?, I don't want cheap stuff don't mind paying for good stuff, but if it's good and inexpensive sound good

I would stick to a brand you know, like Castrol/ shell /Mobil, at least you can be sure of the quality.

But this is to VW spec??
