Would You?

Featured Replies

My turbo has started to whine a bit more than usual (nothing like a siren yet though).

I've been having a quick look around at my options should it go, and I came across this on eBay.

I've been in touch with the seller and it doesn't sound like it's been a bodge job and hasn't been running mega power.

Would it really be worth it? I wouldn't really want to run it at mega power, but the idea of something that would be more reliable, and could take the power if I want to in the future appeals to me.

My only concern would be the price compared to having no warranty.

Presumably as it was on a car for a bit already you've got no comback if it goes wrong in a month or three?

Apparently there is around 5 months warranty left on it.

Well if the price is OK then, what have you got to lose? :D

Plenty of oppertunity for future tweakage...

Well £750 for a start

I'm just a bit concerned as the sellers feedback is all private, so could be from 99p ebooks etc.

Well clearly I am less experienced than many on here, but if I was planning more power it's an option if it's noticably cheaper than a new one. Otherwise I'd have more peace of mind buying new. I don't know how much a new pd150 is.

But if you are not planning more power and don't need to spend the £££ then a 2nd hand pd130 is probably about £200. Which is a big difference.

Hmm, maybe a new or recon PD150 might be a better solution for what I want with the car then.

I've just had a quick look around the net, and it's looking cheaper than the hybrid.

This would cost £1k from someone like Turbo Dynamics but there is no comeback with this. May be worth a risk. He has had no bids yet so seems to be asking too much. PM him and then talk on the phone he may take an offer.

I've already asked about him moving on the price and he's not prepared to budge.

I think I'll leave this one. No doubt I'll regret it one day, but after thinking carefully about it, it's probably not worth the risk, which is why he's got no bids.

I would buy a new stage 2 hybrid from Turbo Dynamics (just over £1000) for the peace of mind and the warranty. Luke (x4osx) has had trouble with his hybrid turbo and the warranty covered it.

If the one on Ebay was under £500, then I would be tempted

You never know, he might come back to you if he can't sell them. As Matt says £500 is very tempting.

Here are a couple of shots he sent me. Would it really get this sooty after only a few months use?
