HELP! Broken inlet manifold!

Featured Replies

Aarrgghhh!!!!

Just got round to replacing my injector seals. Took the wiring harness off, unbolted the fuel rail and swapped the seals OK with no dramas.

However, when I put the bolts back in, one went in fine, but the other has sheared off. It was incredibly tight too when I removed it in the first place, so it must have been cross threaded from the factory. :o

So now I have a car ith half a bolt snapped off in the manifold and a car I can't drive.

What's the best thing to do? Would it be possible to helicoil somethign so small, or do I need a new inlet mani?

If I need a new one, which ones fit?

Cheers

Just drill it out and re tap it.

Yeah, I'll probably end up doing that. Saves faffing about taking the inlet mani off.

If it's been crossed from the factory, do you think I'll be able to use the same size bolt again, or will I need to go for a bigger one? Will there be enough of the original thread left?

If your careful and drill out central it will retap the same.
