broadcom driver help please

Featured Replies

when i do a system check up on my avg anti virus it says my driver needs updating, have done what it says to update it but it says im using the most current one?? quite a few websites have started running slow and crashing, google wont go back to the first page when i have done a search, is this all connected? help needed please.

Do a system restore, to a previous time (before avg intervened!) then, use Windows Update to do it, but remember to temporarily disengage avg first, let it install then reinstate avg.

If avg insists on meddling, then manually override it.

is this whats causing me problems with websites? all this arose though after doing a system restore to get rid of another problem? as yu can see im not that great on a comp lol

Is the AVG version your using the Free one?

Id be inclined to uninstall it then reboot. After that Id make sure your Windows version (xp,vista,7etc) is fully up to date .

Then install Microsofts own AV which at this moment of time is quite good and less resource hungry than AVG.

You could run a nifty utility called CCLEANER (Free download from piriform.com). This should remove all cr4p that the system collects over the years.

Good Luck

No its a bought anti virus with an added service pack

always good to install and run Malwarebytes when you start having issues (preferably before resorting to system restore)

+1 for CCleaner - gets rid of all the junk before running any kind of scans.

IF you have issues uninstalling AVG they have a removal tool on their site which works (especially if you have AVG2011 which does not like being removed at all!!!) AVGREMOVER.EXE

Sound like a false positive from AVG.

If you hadn't paid for it I'd have suggested you dump AVG and try another.

Might be worth reinstalling.

Slow web is probably due to AVG having a bit of a fight with your wifi driver.
