Adding POIs to V7.1 Maps

Featured Replies

I believe that I read somewhere (can't find it now, of course!) that the map database on Version 7.1 is handled differently than previous version?

If that is the case, does anyone know in what format additional POIs should be added - ASC, CSV, GPX, etc? I tried adding .ovl files, but no success. I'm running Firmware 3810, BTW.

UPDATE:

I found mannyo's post about version 3810A firmware, but now I've downloaded it, I can't load it.

I get a "DOWNGRADE ERROR" with the option of restarting the DVD using <setup>+<mic>+<eject> What's the "<mic>" key - anyone know? :(

Weird, when I did mine I upgraded from 2760 to 3810A and you can then directly import POIs from SD card direct to the HDD without any need to recreate DVD maps.

You need to reload the maps once done as the POI database format has changed, and thats it.

Without a firmware upgrade adding POIs to the 7.1DVD is somewhat complex.

My columbus is a 3T0 035680A version unit from 2008.

OK, mannyo, thanks. I downloaded POInspector and donated, added the POIs in .asc format.

Meanwhile, I found a way to get 3810A to load (<setup>+<eject>+<info>), so fingers crossed. :)
