Help identifying part i need for my mk1 fabia vrs ( bush )

Featured Replies

hi all

just had a call from the garage who is fitting my cambelt kit today, and they advised me to replace 2 bushes on the car at the front.

the only description they gave me was the bushes in the alloy housing each side !!

does this make sense to anyone?

i want to have it sorted but want to make sure i buy the correct thing

many thanks

mark

I think they are refering to the "console" bush...rear bush on front wishbone....new OEM is "X" type....others use the ones from a Seat Ibiza Cupra (solid) or you can go Powerflex or Superpro....just depends on cost. B)

P.S. this should have been posted in the Fabia MKI section!!

Thanks i will call them back and see if thats right

p.s thanks for pointing that out, your a real crowd pleaser

It will be the comsole bushes as pointed out already!

They knew use a superceeded one, which is a lot better than the originals. The cupra bushes are more solid, but alot harsher ride. And personally I would not touch the powerflex ones, as there are too solid and ruin the ride on the car! The normal ones are only £8.19+VAT each, and you SHOULD always change them in pairs.

Tell the garage you want the genuine ones used aswell, as you can get aftermarket ones from local factors. But we see so many of these changed and then a couple of months later, they are being redone with genuine ones.

Thanks for the info, dont suppose you have the part numbers for them by any chance?

i think i will buy them, i atleast no they will be genuine parts then

EErrrrrr.......Cupra console bushes are a one piece totally solid (no voids) block of rubber in a plastic sleeve! The Powerflex ones are a two piece rubber bush (one 80 shore bit which fits and "rounds off" the hex peg on the wishbone...and the other bit which is the 70shore "cup" for the console unit itself).....I have the Powerflex ones and I don't like lots of extra vibration.....and the Powerflex console bushes havn't given me any problems.....most people seem to get the extra vibration with the Cupra bushes tho' (did you get confused?)....the main reason that you would fit either the Powerflex, SuperPro, or Whiteline console bushes tho' is that they work in a much better way than the VAG ones....ie they restict movement of the wishbone in unwanted planes...but allow it free movement in the main plane that we want (VAG ones don't do this) and the result????.......better tyre contact of the inside wheel on corners with less "hop and skip"......wish I'd done it years ago!!! B)

whatever i choose is it worth doing the fronts aswell?

Usually the OEM are very good......but if you want to replace then get the Superpro ones as better than the Powerflex version as the steel crush tube is thicker!! B)
