MY2012 vRS has no LED DRL's

Featured Replies

Hi all, first post so be easy on me please!

I've been looking into buying a Fabia vRS since I've been offered an extremely good deal which is hard to refuse, but looking on the online configurator and speaking tomy local dealer it seems that the MY2012 vRS doesn't come with LED DRLs as standard and where the used to be they have been replaced with standard fog lights with no option to add them :S

My dealer is perplexed since he was under the impression that there would be an option to add them as an 'extra' but they are just not available.

Anyone else had this same problem while trying to order their new toy! :p

Cheers.

Also, the new brochure says that there should be the option to add the DRL's but there is none. On the configurator, nor the Skoda system :(

it also say auto headlights and i am pretty sure the vrs does not have those. As fog foglights i am sure the brochure said that as well. Also by law all new cars must have drl fitted, so you should get them.

Thanks for the reply.

My sister has just had her Ibiza delivered last week, and it doesn't have any DRL's. Doing some research, it looks like it is only new cars (ie facelift models) released after the EU regulation that has to have them fitted by law and it just seems like most manufacturers are deciding to fit them as standard to save trouble for the future.

Maybe the auto headlights is part of the MY2012 update?

I think they are an option now

A call to Skoda UK will sort it

The option to add them is not possible.

My spec sheet says :

LED front fog and daylight running lights

Shame the configurator is down so we can't check

It doesn't say that on the MY2012 unfortunately :(

Car will still have DRL's, model year changes are very basic. Black pack and roof aerial being the only real changes.

Skoda's brochures are notorious for having small errors and omissions in them, just ignore it your MY 2012 car will have the DRL's. A reminder they tend not to come activated. You have to open the fuse cover under the steering wheel and turn on the switch!

I've been in and asked. The only reason I've thought about the vRS is because my dealer can offer the spec I want for just over 14k. Not bad since I was looking at the Seat Ibiza Cupra which is over 17k for the spec I want...

Paying extra for the DRL's would be no problem it's just that they are not avaiable online, nor at the dealers :wall:

--

@Chris, do you have their number? Might be worth a phone call tomorrow..

--

Cheers pipsy. The only reason I'm concerned is because the Fabia 2012 brochure shows fog lights as standard on the vRS with the LED DRL's as an option. On another note, I wonder what will happen to all the people who have ordered the vRS in the last few months and have their build dates after the 2011 cut of point? :S

I can see a few upset people if they turn up with standard fogs..

Hi Gas_Head no problem. LED DRL's are one of the defining features of the vRS. I think even in Europe the vRS has them, its just the brochures and info on line can be a bit misleading and factually incorrect.

Our car is a very late MY 11 (only had it coming up 2 weeks) has the DRL's and no fogs. The DRL's act as sidelights so dim when the side lights or dipped beams are turned on, there are no sidelight bulbs in the headlamp cluster. The DRL's are so bright in day running mode I reckon you could see your way pretty well in the dark without having the headlights on; wouldnt try it of course!

I thought the VRS didn't have foglights, just LED DRL as there is only one light unit so you can't have foglight illuminated all the time as it's illegal in the UK. Unless you can alter the beam pattern of the front fogs by lighting only certain LED's but I'm not sure. I believe the VRS DRL's will dim when the side/dipped headlights are switched on.

The lesser Fabia models can have both front fogs and DRL as the light unit contains two separate bulbs/reflectors, one each for DRL and fogs.

Or am I wrong?

Yep vRS does not have fogs, just DRL's which double as sidelights (they dim) when the lights are on.

So is this 100% correct, no front fog lights on the model 2012 vRS, can't seem to find them on mine anyway.

Does anyone have a picture handy of the model 2012 curve projector light option ?? I ordered this but not convinced I have it, no obvious movement of light beams that I can see.

Fabia vRS has never had front fog lights and the MY2012 doesn't either.

Cheers

no obvious movement of light beams that I can see.

drive upto a wall, put lights on and turn wheel slightly, that should be enough to see if its moving or not

I've done that and no obvious movement, I presume they do look slightly different from the non curve ones ??

Yes and no. The higher spec Elegance (vRS is based on the SE) has separate DRL lights but in the same cluster as the fogs. Hence they look so huge!

Spoke to the local dealer and apparently the curve projectors were not available with the 'black pack' as fitted to model 2012 cars. I'll now be getting a refund as I paid for the option when it was available at the time of ordering.
