Going to get a sub

Featured Replies

Hoping to get a sub tomorrow and get it all installed. I've taken the glove box out and had a poke around and am happy with where I am going to route everything.

Was thinking of getting one of these http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_723259_langId_-1_categoryId_165748 as it seems very good value, I've got a few questions.

1) I don't think it comes with a fuse, what size would I need to run?

2) Should I run the remote with power down one side of the car and the RCA cable down the other?

3) Does the RCA jack plug into the red and white sockets in the back of the stereo?

Anybody have any experience of this sub or have a recommendation for a complete set-up for around £100?

Cheers

Mike

mike, pic shows leads but it doesnt state that they are included.

You need roughly...amp cable, fuse block/holder (can be inline to match the ag gauge of the wire you are using), rca(yes red and white go to back of stereo) and remote wire, run on same side of car, and keep your rca away from your main amp wire ie on other side.

My tip is go from battery under car, and then come up through grommit in boot and into sub/amp that way, you can cable tie to underside as you go.

Means no having to mess around lifting interior or messing around with the bulkhead which is fiddly and as i have seen in another members car a source of water ingress as it wasnt sealed properly.

You can get amp wiring kits on gaybay which have everything you need included, thats the best thing to do if there isnt stuff in the setup you buy

Was going to run under the car but couldn't see where to fix the cable. I've had the scuttle and glove box out and found the grommit by the pollen filter, I'll either put a new grommit in there or silicone it in to make sure it doesn't leak. Just need to get a fuse for that kit and I should have everything required.

Picked the sub up and it does come with a fuse so has everything I need. Will hopefully get it fitted after work tonight

got it installed and only took around 1.5 hours thanks to some of the guides on here. Makes a big difference to the sound of my system.

I've got the 10inch version in the fabia, sounds really good, and the volume is only up about 2/3rds on the sub.

Recommended by me, bonus is the sub is extremely light, which is one of the reasons I was won over.
