Anyone experiencing heat shield rattles on their vRS?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Took dog out for a walk tonight and transportation to said dog walking location was of course courtesy of our lovely new (but no longer quite so shiny) vRS estate.

Driving home had to pull out of a junction pretty quickly and got caught in a small pothole as I was pulling away, nothing significant and certainly no change in the way the car drives or any visible damage on any of the tyres or alloys. I've certainly hit worse in the past much harder without any problem.

Anyway as you do decided to take the car for a brief spin as dont get to drive it all that often, was driving round town with my windows open and had to go across a fairly rough piece of road (think cobbles with mild speed bumps between them). As I did I noticed a really rather irritating rattle which sounded very much like a headshield rattle underneath the car, only became apparent as the suspension has to start working over the rough piece of road. Tried the same piece of road with the windows closed and it was barely audible. I'm starting to think its probably been there all along but i've just not noticed it and the pothole thing is just a red herring.

I'm not too worried to be honest but was wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar with their own car or if there is a known common fault with the vRS? Probably going to see if it is there next time I drive it, if it gets any worse will book it in to be looked at. A bit annoying though given the cars barely been driven with only 270 miles on the clock. Have also noticed the small supercharger belt squeek that people have described with the vRS. Not particularly bothered about that though, still love it!

Seems all is OK, driven it today and no annoying noises. Could possibly have been the sat nav in the top glovebox or the dog guard rattling. Never mind haha!

I've had noises like that on the fiat, diagnosed by the tech when he takes the wheel off and finds a stone stuck between the brake disc and the metal shield ;) It could well have been something like that...

I have this annoying rattle too only noticed it today with windows down, i couldn't hear it with windows up. Only 380miles on clock, giving dealer a ring tomorrow to sort that and some annoying internal rattles. Apart from that loving my vRS :)
