Help with coding a new Bosch ABS/ASR/EDL unit

Featured Replies

As per title;

I will be getting a new Bosch ABS/ASR/EDL unit for my 2001 Fabia Elegance, 1.4lt 16v AUB engine. I have a "Memoscan" reader which also allows me access to adaptation and coding blocks in all the items inc engine ecu, abs, steering, can gateway etc. etc.

I have had a look at the Ross-tech wiki site and can confirm that the block numbers seem to be the same (well it is the same protocol) and from what I can find out I need to entry a new code number based on the 5 speed transmission, airbags, abs, and data....so a code of 00013 needs to be entered??? Do I also need to do anything else??? :S

P.S. I don't have the coding from the old unit as this is FUBAR (it has been tested by BBA-reman) and the ecu can not be read!!!

Had a look in the scan list of the OP's car as same age and engine..code for ABS was 00044...but does he have ASR,ABS,EDL???? as spec level was not stated!

The direct post that you are refering to are codes for the engine ecu!!! I need ABS ECU codes!! B)

I've got access to autoscans from plenty of Skodas, have you got the part number of your ABS unit?

Hi, I've ordered the direct replacement from Skoda...original ABS/ASR/EDL unit part code 6Q0 907 379D....don't know what new one will be....should be the same...picking it up tomorrow!

P.S. did a bit of digging around in some paperwork when I had a detailed scan done by Skoda when I had a problem with Lambda sensors......also on the print out is the following;

ABS/EDL/ASR - Bosch 5.7

6Q0907379D

ABS/ASR 5.7 FRONT V00

Coding 124

Dealer number 13765

So I presume that the five digit code that I need is 00124??? and would I need to log in to reset the code??? Thanks. B)

Not picked up the unit yet but I belive that the electronics block is the same number as stated above but version H now instead of D.... B)

From 2 different Fabias:

A 51 plate:

Address 03: ABS Brakes Labels: 6Q0-907-37x-ASR.lbl

Part No: 6Q0 907 379 D

Component: ABS/ASR 5.7 FRONT V20

Coding: 00124

Shop #: WSC 13765

A 53 plate:

Address 03: ABS Brakes Labels: 6Q0-907-37x-ASR.lbl

Part No: 6Q0 907 379 H

Component: ABS/ASR 5.7 FRONT V40

Coding: 00124

Shop #: WSC 13765

It looks as though 00124 would be the code. I don't think that you need to log in to set the code, I've done engine and airbag ECUs and have not had to log in.

Right then got it all fitted and coded up!! Had a problem coding it as at first I couldn't get into the ABS unit!! So I cleared all the fault codes in the engine ECU, CAN Gateway, and the Instrument cluster...then I could get into the ABS unit!! The ECU info was showing 00000 for both the coding and the dealer WSC? code as it is a new unit! I then went in the coding block and typed in 00124 and it would not accept it so I went back into the dealer code and typed in the original dealer code 13765 which it accepted then I could go back into the coding block and recode to 00124. All ok! Well not quite as it has changed the dealer code to 00257!! Why I don't know!!?? Will this make a difference??? Also the FRONT V00 is now FRONT V40?? is this the version??...as it is a new unit??

Now reads:

Part No: 6Q0907379H

Component: ABS/ASR 5.7 FRONT V40

Coding: 00124

WSC: 00257

Also I have tried to do the pump/valve activation to help bleed the ABS unit using the 04 BASIC setting, 002 block and 001 block but this doesn't work....what is the correct way??? Do I need to activate the pump as I've read some tech info on the web that says that the Bosch 5.7 unit doesn't require this?

You should be able to get the Factory Repair Manual via erWin, it does contain information about Coding and Basic Setting for the Fabia. The Coding of 000124 is correct for your car (AMF/AUA/BKY/BBY/BBZ with Manual Transmission) and it does not matter which WSC you've got there. Why it changed? No clue, at least not unless without spending time to investigate but you shouldn't need to worry about that part. The bleeding is done via MVB 010 instead of the usual 001 or 002.

I have added the missing coding and basic setting information to the latest set of VCDS label files, they will be part of the next update/data version.

Went into the 010 block and the screen said "rel brake pedal, FR + FL bleed screw open/down" so I didn't touch the brake pedal, then I bleed the two front calipers......no noise from the ABS unit...but a bit more air came out......tried pressing other buttons on the machine but nothing else happened?? Is this correct?? I know that I am using only a "Memoscan" device which can gain access to everthing on the car and uses it's own inbuilt basic lcd screen to display function/message/values etc. So I just ended up bleeding a further 250ml from each caliper using my Easi-bleed system and filtering/pouring it back in the reserve tank (fluid is the new stuff as all the old stuff was flushed out on previous two bleeds done two weeks ago!)

I know that when a complete drain down of the ABS unit is done that rebleeding can be a right pain/sod/etc!!!

I have now bleed the system using all the following methods:

All bleeding done using a Guson's "Easi-bleed"

Bled furthest to nearest.

Bled nearest to furthest.

Bled the clutch.

Pumped brake pedal several times to get rid of excess in servo before using "Easi-bleed"

Had someone press brakepedal slowly 1/4 down whilst I'm bleeding each caliper

Bled 1/4lt from each caliper

Also done a 8mile drive using the brakes between each bleeding session.

Brake pedal is softish for top 1/4 then progresivley firm to about 1/2 to 2/3 down when totally solid with engine on.

When engine off brake pedal only takes two pumps to 1/2 way down to expel servo then it becomes totally firm

The above I know is usuall and is good....but I miss that the top 1/4 is a bit softer that it was......I hope this is because tha discs and pads on the rear are new and are bedding in!? I have done "bedding-in" braking and the car is stable and straight......bloody good in fact.

My Question......Have I missed anything with the bleeding of the ABS unit???? B)

P.S. sorry for the long post!! :giggle:

Have you checked the factory repair manual as suggested? It does have all this information, way too much details to repeat here.

Erwin costs just to look at the documents!!!!

4 EUR/hour for reading/printing, isn't really much and you can print (screenshots) all you want. However, please understand that I do not plan on violating any copyright by using my erWin subscription to send you that information. :)

Do they take credit cards????

And is it easy to find your way around...cause if they are charging by the hour I don't want to get lost!!!
