Octavi Tdi Turbo Actuator Testing

Remember to check the MAF at WOT so that the EGR is off/at minimum duty cycle.

A faulty EGR could be the source of your problems. At WOT, is the MAF actual greater or less than the MAF requested?

Column 2 revs 3 requested MAF 4 Actual MAF 5 EGR

right so did you check the earth wires?

could be a few other things ..

1) the maf reading is correct and your engine just isnt drawing the air thru it

2) wiring problem from the MAF

..

ok have you checked the boost level?

if so and its low it could be egr stuck open or the egr flap valve sticking and restricting the air.

exhaust blocked, if it cant get it out it ain't gonna suck it in

compressor wheel missing off the turbo!!!

When I had the new diesel pump fitted the mechanic said the EGR valve was full of soot/gunge and he took it of and cleaned it out, perhaps the intake manifold is badly bunged up?The car has done 190k miles 100K on veg oil and used filterd veg oil(engine still sounds good)with regular oil/filter changes.

Check all the brown wires cleaned with wire brush(un bolted cleaned both terminal sides).Looked at the flap before the EGT valve and it has a small amount of soot(a light dusting)I did notice the flap when running is not horizontal but angled down?Anyway still no acceleration with MAF connected, dissconect and it goes quite well but still slows down going up a hill?

the flap should be horizontal otherwise the boost will try to close it off when its under load.. could be the fault ,I would try and hold it open with a cable tie around the linkage and try again.

I think it may be the turbo nackered,Before loss of power the car was flying after cleaning the AGR flap and inside the housing,it stopped going well a few days later and I found the pipe had broken off the wastegate actuator so may have over boosted and blown a fan vane?1.9TDi AGR engine

Have you actually measured the boost with vcds? block 10 or 11 I think give requested V actual.

Think I have a turbo for a 90 bhp motor here still if it comes to that.

Yes Yes Yes,after a long chase via Ebay I have in my possesion a brand new Garrett Turbo for an AGR engine I paid £140 yes a new one,so I will be contacting my local garage in the morning and emailing other contacts for a fitting price and leave the oil leak till a new clutch is needed? Thanks aurelrica for support the Octy will live on i need it to pass the 200,000 miles to complete my 5 year challenge.

I have removed the veg oil kit and put it on the new Octavia so I will probably design my own veg conversion for the old one as I have most of the parts+600 litres of used veg oil ready to go 55p per litre.

Happy Xmas New Turbo Fitted and guess what still the same no power?Same as before,no difference.ooopps Back to the drawing board.

Happy Xmas New Turbo Fitted and guess what still the same no power?Same as before,no difference.ooopps Back to the drawing board.

mine had no power or stared the boost when she wanted because of the MAF sensor, after cleaning with a spray it comme back to normal power... i've notticed that the vacum is produced by a somme kind of pump on the top of the engine that provides the servo brake system too, and by the way i've took out the egr tube from the last actuator and closed and took out a tube from the top of the angine since i have the intercooler full of crap...

if you're car runs bad with the maf in place might be an ecu problem, mine use to go better withot the maf untill cleaning, then it runs better and having the boost as always... try a maf cleaning spray with you're original maf... also see if you're turbo pressure sensor is working whell...

Done the MAF problem I now I am the proud owner of 1 used Bosch MAF and 2 new MAFs off ebay non have made any difference.Next train of thought was blocked catalytic converter but just disconnected waste down pipe and Turbo spins great but still no power same as before. The saga continues ......

Have you done any logging - sorry this thread has been going on so long I can't remember!

MAP actual vs requested might be a good place to start.
