Question for 17" Spiders owners, do it change handling or drive at all?

Featured Replies

Hi,

First post!

As title states this is a question for anyone that has a fabia with the 17" Octavia alloys. Did you notice any change in the drive from the 16" standard fabia alloys?

Just anything really, like tramlining or harder ride, cornering ability.

Appreciate any responses.

Regards

not enough of a difference to make me put my 16's back on.

Slightly heavier so may feel tiny bit different but not much

With decent quality 205/40R17 tyres you wont notice much difference apart from perhaps a slightly firmer ride.

If you decide to fit 215/40R17 tyres, you may find your trip mpg gets worse due to the actual trip mileage being under recorded.

Bill.

So many people have done it so it's not gunna have a massively negative effect or people wouldn't keep theirs like they are. Just go for it. :)

Great! Thanks for the replys....

I just need to find a Fabia first! this will defo be my first mod along with Colour coded Grille and LCR splitter and Remap!

Thanks again,

I put on some 17" Spiders and Yes, mine felt slower, the ride was much harder (I have to drive over two cattle grids to get to my house). So much so that I have taken them off and put the 16's back on.

Also I found that because you have to put 205 tyres on them they stick out much further than the tyre. As a result I have had really bad stone chipping on the leading edge of the spokes and there is no protection at all if you do happen to curb it.

I think I'm going to get some 16" Spiders if some come along and try them with 215/45 tyres.

You don't HAVE to put 205's on at all, 215's offer more protection and very little increase in price.
