Hello,

Am new to this forum stuff... so will just kick it off by saying Alright! and that i am in the process of looking to get a Fabia VRS 1.9 tdi.

I have looked at a few but have been disapointed in the sale price of some that i have viewed. While on my travels looking for said motor i noticed one had an oil leak on the drivers side on the underside engine cover... i could tell there was a leak due to the being a cut out in the cover for this leak to drain off.... So my question is this. Is the hole in the underside protection cover supposed to be there or has this been purposely cut for said leak.... I think the leak may have been coming from a pipe directly above said cut-out but could not work out what it was due to cover being on.

Any more advice on what to look out for when looking would be much appreciated..

As i am looking at one tonight.

Cheers.

Was it a leak like the pic below?

If it is, it's the EGR valve, and is not that uncommon on older cars, nor is it really that expensive to fix.
