vRS Spider Tyre size Options

Featured Replies

Picked up my set of spiders tonight  ,

After i get them refurbed and painted whats the best tyre size to go for? Ill be fitting new boots to the alloys as the spiders cuurntly don't have tyres on them. My spare spider alloy in my boot is 205/50/17 i rang a couple of tyre places today for a price for a decent set of 4 tyres was more expensive than what i was expecting.

What other size can i go for that could maybe be a bit cheaper? 215/45/17? 225/45/17?

225/45 will be the perfect tyre size, as it is practically the same overall diameter as the 205's so won't affect the speedo. The 215's however, will make the speedo incorrect.

I'd stick with the 205's. Contrary to popular belief, your contact patch doesn't get bigger with wider tyre. It just changes shape. The 225's are more likely to tramline than the 205's do.

Plus, it's technically a modification, so you should tell your insurance company.

225/45zr17's everytime mate!!!!

Won't increase your insurance either.

+1 to 225/45R17

often cheaper than 215 or 205 width tyres too ( 225 more popular/common size )

I have 225/45's all round on mine, only bought them less then a year ago and they were about £50-£60 cheaper for all four then the 205/50's

At the moment 205's falken 452's are a couple of quid cheaper than 245's at camskill. One thing about 245's your fuel consumption goes up!
