Leaking rear door seals

Featured Replies

In September I purchased a 51 reg Skoda Fabia from my Skoda dealer which came with a 12 month Retailer approved warranty.

I have noticed that the rear seals on both my back doors are letting in water, causing the car to steam up a lot after rain and leaving wet marks and the vehicle extremely damp!!. To be honest, I dont feel safe in the car when it does this and I also have a 2 year old I now worry about when she is damp in the car.

I took it to my dealer who informed me that this is not covered under my warrenty and was going to cost me nearly £300 to fix!!!!!

After reading posts on Briskoda it seems to be a 'common problem' and people have had this fixed under their warranty. Please can someone help? Am I being 'fobbed' off by my Skoda Dealer??????

£300!!??? Are they joking? This costs less than £10 to sort yourself.

There is even a handy little video on Youtube on how to fix it.

Thank you, it may come to this but I just hate being taken the p*** out of because I am female & lied to saying that my warranty does not cover this fault when it does!!! especially when it seems to be a 'common fault' with Fabia's. Thank you again, I appreciate this post :):)

Read you warranty booklet and confirm for yourself what is covered then you will know where you stand .

You would have thought that the dealer if they wanted you to use them again would carry the job out for you because as stated in the previous post it only takes approx 10mins per side.

You never know some fellow member from your area might read this and do it for you (I would but you would need to drive to South West Scotland).

Hope things get sorted for you soon

Whoosh

Oh thank you Whoosh xxx I will have to ask for a warrenty booklet, I dont think I was given one by them when I got the car, just a printed piece of paper saying VAlidation certificate!!! This is the first time on this site and it has been most helpful. Thank you again

Which dealer did you buy the car from? I had a look at mine the other week and fixed them - as stated 10 mins each side - they shouldn't expect to charge that, it's ridiculous!

If the dealer wont fix it for free then Im sure a member near you will do it for beer tokens.

I was wondering if the water is stopped from running into the car, by this quick fix, where does the water run in the future???

Are there drain holes to let the water out, in the first place, ( I will have a good look, and maybe drill a hole at the lowest point in the inner door skin).??

There are drain holes on the bottom flange of the door, they sit outside the door frame seal. Don't drill any holes, you will destroy the zinc coating and it will rust.
