Forge Silicone TIP

Featured Replies

Well I finally got round to fitting the TIP from Forge ive had for a year this week and also took the opportunity to replace some of the hoses.

What a bastorial thing to fit, I put the car up on ramps which made the access easier from underneath, but pushing the hose end onto

the turbo inlet, thats another matter lol. A couple of hours job? no way. I took my time, it took me (including making the clamp bracket and

tidying up the hoses), a couple of days.

I seem to remember a couple of members having the hose detach itself from the turbo so hence the little clamp plate out of 4mm mild steel to clip

onto the juberlee clip around the hose to stop it moving (hopefully). I also made sure the hose end was pushed fully home on the turbo, (bit of wood and brute force).

Took the car for a run tonight there seems to be a slight improvement in pick up, up the slip road onto the A1M I gave it some beans and it did take off faster,

the turbo did seem to spool up easier.P1000315.jpg

They're a pig aren't they?

I found the hose kept sliding off when I did the jubilee clip up on the turbo, as if the inlet is slightly tapered. Worth it when it's done though.

Your not wrong, fitting a Silicone TIP to a vrs is like some sort of right of passage.

Ref: the taper I think there is a lead in chamfer on the turbo spigot about 3-4 mm wide so i tried to get the hose clamp as far inboard as possible.

Ill check it in a couple of days to see if anything has moved.

Indeed very hard to fit. A week ago i tried with mine. I asked a friend who is also a mechanic. He managed to put it in about a hour and after that we had to put the original back in place because i bought the wrong one from Forge. I saw on forge website that engine code AUG is under FMGOLFIND but the part required for vRS is FM180IND because the top bore diameters are the other way round...

Anyway my friend cursed a lot that day :giggle:
