Does this engine test look dodgy?

As is probably now either famous or extremely annoying on these forums is my best friend the too lean EML light :), (you cant be more annoyed about it than me btw haha)

Found an option on my VAG engine test called a 'Readiness Test' now i ran this readiness test while on click 2 on the ignition (so the car wasnt running, it just had all the lights up ready)

Results:

Catalyst :FAIL

Heate Cat. :PASS

EVAP Sys. :FAIL

Sec.Air.Sys :FAIL

A/C :PASS

O2Sensor :FAIL

Thats as it came up on the screen.... alot of fails there, any important? or relevant to the ongoing EML light that is the bane of my life>

its a basic emissions system test, none of them will say pass untill the engine is up to temp and been driven for 3 miles (at least), what haven't you tried regarding the too lean fault? we had one here that kept putting a boost leak code in and that turned out to be a wrong air flow meter that had been fitted (was a tdi meter on a vrs)

ill run it again with the engine running anyway just to have a look :)

You need to take the car for a quick drive, and put the ac on too. That should then change them all to pass, until you turn the ignition off, then they will all go to fail agan.

EOBD (European On Board Diagnostics) is a standard by which all cars and light commercials ( from 2001 for petrols, and 2004 for diesels) must comply to, and applies to engine emissions. Your car's ECU will monitor the EOBD functions, and in the normal state they will all show 'OK'. This simply means the the ECU is monitoring the Catalyst, O2 sensors, misfire detection and components. Following erasure of fault codes the ECU readiness monitors will revert to 'Not Ready', and will remain so until a drive cycle has been completed. This is usually a mix of driving styles over a period of time, as well as a stop for several hours. Once completed the readiness monitors will show 'OK' again. This is also the reason why fault codes do not immediately re-appear after clearing if the reason for it being generated was not fixed.
