Featured Replies

im looking at buying a fab vrs when im back from afghanistan (6 months away), ive had a quick look round for a buying guide and cant seem to find one.

would you guys recommend me geting one? i know they do a good mpg :)

thanks

PD engine is considered 1 of the best engines around i believe.

good power good mpg reliable and strong.

ive done 35k in 2 years in mine and all i had to change was starter motor.

im sure some others will post soon with more details but id say yeah pretty good cars.

Fabia VRS MK1 or Fabia VRS MK2 (latest release) ?

Fabia VRS MK 1 (Diesel) I get 45 mpg or 10 miles per litre. tankful to tankful. ( Members give a wide variety of MPG's )

Can't quote Fabia VRS MK 2 (Petrol) sorry.

Prices for the Fabia VRS MK 1 for £5000 a 2004 to 2006 is possible depending on it's condition etc.

Without a doubt it has been the best car I have ever owned

Good for about 100k miles, then wheel bearings, bushes and dampers. Electricals such as locks, windows always flaky.

The 1.9 PD is the only decent engine.

rotodiesel.

in 7 years of ownership and 66k ive only had to change the fan speed capacitor which cost me £13

find me a cheaper car to run lol

Drove 430 miles in mine yesterday.

Bristol to Banbury to Medway to Chingford to Central London and back to Bristol again.

Brimmed the tank (Jedi Fuel Tank Trick) at my local garage before setting off

and upon returning home the fuel gauge was still showing a whisker under half a tank.

Kept it under 80mph but that's still good by anybodys standards.

cheers for the re-assurance :) seem to be a great car :) ive ownerd a few VAG's before (petrol) and nothing but problems. so ive decided to go for a vag diesel that i can slightly modify and will still look nice :)

hope to come to a few meets ect when im back from this **** hole :)

Without doubt second best car i've owned.

Only thing i've changed is battery, and bushes. Now on 111k, and still going strong.

Check out the car Maintance thread. Some people have updated the thread. Mines on there.

With exception of my turbo it's all been wear and tear stuff. No regrets.

Yeah they're really reliable, mines never in the garage...

All cars have faults

Skodas suffer the same as a lot of vw's of the time with niggling electrical faults, coolant temp sensors, thermostats, brake switches

Other faults would be weak console bushes, weak dual mass flywheels, suspect turbo's, boost leaks, window regulator faults, leaking rear door carriers

If you want reliability best going jap, but then again you'll never find a faultless car its just not possible, things aren't built to last nowadays
