Santa Pod - 9th July 2011

Featured Replies

Following on from Jason's quarter mile thread, I plan to pop my Santa Pod cherry on the 9th July.

Other people have shown an interest, hence this thread.

If you plan to come and take part please add your name below.

We can have a mini-meet.

1. CT17 (advance ticket purchased)

2. chrisw880

3. xa0sx

4)

5)

6)

Etc...

I'll update this as we go along.

£35 for unlimited runs on the day.

Advance booking for the 9th July ends on the 5th. There is a £2 booking fee.

I'd suggest getting tickets ASAP to be sure of a place on the day.

as stated on the other thread, I'll be interested, could someone explain how it works... Obviously need a car and a driving licence, helmet? turn up and drive or do we have to book in advance? any specific things to bring? cost per run?

If I can afford the 360mile round trip

1) CT17.

I believe it's £35 (unlimited runs?), and you only need a helmet if your terminal speed is over 110mph

I think they increased the terminal speed/helmet thing recently. The pod website will say more.

I'm out though due to other commitments

I checked the website yesterday.

It's as Chris states.

£35 for unlimited runs on the day, helmet only if you get to over 110mph.

Not sure how you'll know the terminal speed in advance? Although not sure a Fabia will reach it anyway.

Jason's car is fast and it had a terminal speed of 105 mph.

RWYB days are usually bad from what I've heard from people, you spend all day queueing for like 3 runs... I might still do it though. Gotta see if my engine is OK first.

Well I'm going anyway. Best get there early.

I want to get an idea of what my car can do.

Hummmmm, I fancy going, but at the same time dont like the queuing. The only time i`v been was during a show and that wasnt too bad tbh, only had to wait 5-10min for a run. Wonder if its possible to just watch & see how busy it is first, i`d be up for coming down to say hi anyway since its only 20min away

I just beat a TVR Tuscan with a 13.6092 Quarter mile time...

Not bad for a diesel Fabia with all it's seats and a spare wheel. :)

Exciting !!!

(sorry Ross)

EDIT: Ecitement got the better of me, that was my fastest time, I was a little slower when I beat the TVR.

I wish the Pod was closer, I'd have been there in a shot. Well done for beating the TVR! Pics/vids would be excellent.

That's an excellent time.

I wonder what went through the TVR's owners head when he lost to a diesel Skoda emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Well done fella

No idea and it doesn't show on the pod stats.

Thought about a video, but it'd just be the track out front/back.

I've put a little report of the day in my car thread (members secion) here: http://briskoda.net/forums/forum/93-briskoda-members-cars/

Nice one, gutted I couldn't go (Ross' fault)
