Obscuring reg numbers in photos

Genuine question, not a troll, but I don't understand why?

Easier to find a car to clone. If I wanted to clone a set of plates for nefarious purposes, I'd want to make sure I was cloning off the same car (otherwise if I got a different car it'd be obvious that I was a cloner and they'd just ignore the owner of the actual plates, whereas if there's a chance the owner could be involved then it delays everything while the police talk to them before looking for me) and Briskoda/SeatCupra.net/UK-MkIVs is a convenient "showroom" of just about every example of the marque I could want. 5 minutes through the readers ride section on here for example and I bet I could find a car easily confused for my Fabia I, and if the plates were visible I'd be sorted.

I don't tend to worry about it too much tbh, but I can see why some people would.

When my number-plate needed to be replaced, (as some pigeons smashed it) I had to take my registration book to prove car was owned by me.

If the people who can make a number-plate are a bit shady it would be no problem to supply one quickly, also.

As said, someone could pick the same model and colour of a vehicle, and quickly clone the number-plate.

Number-plate recognition used by the police would only highlight it, if the original car owner had no insurance or tax.

Correction of any of the above most welcomed.

Because, if your in the right job... you can find out where I live? :)
