Radio Code

Featured Replies

I've lost the code to my radio (disconnected battery, and cant find the card with the code) does the Standard Radio have a generic code or is it a trip to the dealer?

Also how much are they likely to charge?

Cheers, Stephen

Are you able to get the set out?

Not too sure, does it involve any special keys? Is the code on the back then?

I thought the Skoda OEM stereos were coded to the car. I took the standard one out of my old Comfort combi to upgrade to an Alpine stereo and didn't need any code when I put it back in.

+1 if it's the standard OEM fitted from factory radio, it will pair with the ECU without the need for a code.

Unforuntately not. Well this certainly wasn't the case when I had exactly the same problem with my vRS. Tried leaving the ignition running for well over an hour as well as many other suggestions that were bounded around but no joy. Dealer wanted £50 to unlock so took it to an independent who provided the code for £25! Still way too expensive but hey ho!

Good luck!

So can I unplug the re-plug the radio and it will work?

I lost the code from disconnecting the battery if that makes any difference?

If it's showing SAFE and doesn't pair to the ECU, you will need a dealer to retrieve the code. Sounds like the radio may have been swapped out at some point.

Most Skoda dealers charge £15 for code retrieval

Very reasonable, I used to charge £20

Yeah you need keys to remove it, the 14 digit serial number is on there that you need to get the code.

Cheers guys,Rang up my local dealer and there going to charge me £27 re-program it as its showing the 'SAFE' message.

Also there going to charge £430 for removing and refitting a gearbox, release bearing and new inner CV gator.... :( silver lining and all that.

Tell em to poke the £27 then as they would have to remove the battery to take the gearbox out and would need to get the code anyhow.
