For style sake!

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Next week I plan to start doing some styling mods I have been planning todo for a while

Refurb wheels

Polish engine bay

Spray plastic bits to colour code

Make custom badges

And

Oil pick up pipe.

So I was wondering if anyone has the parts numbers for the bits I need/is there any bits I have missed?

and with regards to polishing the engine bay, what sealents have people used to keep the shine?

Refurb wheels

Sanding back and spraying lexus grey

Polish engine bay

Polish crank case

Inlet manifold

Throttle body

What gaskets do I need for these bits/what else should be replaced whilst I have it off? Do I need to reset the throttle body afterwards?

Spray plastic bits to colour code

Sanding back and spraying the bump strips and grille and matching them back to black magic

What is the parts number for the side strips?

Make custom badges

Using the old badges as a base I am going to make black and white badges

Oil pick up pipe

What is the part number for this? What sealent do I need for the sump?

Cheers,

Damian.

Already in movement ;) I am bought replice skoda badges from ebay and they have basically split. So I am going to level off the plastic bit of the badge and spray it black magic then put the black and white sticker on stop so it is raised off the car. Like a proper badge would be.

The Skoda part number for the oil pick up pipe is S06A115251 retail price is £8.23, Oring is SN0282222, £2.16

Here is the first part done.

Grille:

Sanded back to give a slight key, didn't remove chrome.

Sprayed in filler primer to cover the dents then sanded back.

Sprayed with Grey primer to bring out the black.

Sprayed in 4 coats of black magic pearl then keyed back down to help reduce the orange peel.

Sprayed with 3 coats of lacquer.

When hardened it will be wet sanded and polished.

Good job! I did mine too but burned the paint job with a machine polisher... So got to re-do it. A few questions if u don't mind. How long did u wait in between coats? What's Orange peel? And how did u key back after the coats of black magic?

Burned it! Crikey, what where you doing it with?

I've machine polished my car before and its been fine. I use a rotary with 3m polishes and a soft CG pad.

I waited about 10 mins? If I did it with the spray gun I would of done it sooner. orange peel is where the paint dusts on, it leaves a lumpy finish like an orange peel. All you have todo is flat it back and then polish.

To key between coats I just used a really fine paper, once you spray the lacquer its any dullness disapears.

I may need to re-lacquer the grille because my dad pushed to hard on it and put his thumb through it. I reckon I can just sand it down slightly and polish away.

Thanks bud!

Scratch it too often to warrant doing that. I plan to matt black it though.
