Lights on vRS

Featured Replies

Can anyone tell me why the small bulbs I think parking lights are not working on my vRS . I have the drls on mine they work but my other Octavia SE has two small bulbs I think they are w5w and they light up when the light swith is on the first notch. The bulbs are there in my vRS but I cannot make them light up I have tried everything. Do they not work because I have DRLs if so why.

Thank you.

Correct, they don't work since you have DRLs.

On your other Octavia they are sidelights.

On the vRS the DRLs are used as the sidelights- you'll notice that they dim slightly when you set the switch to the first notch.

I guess they still pit bulbs in as otherwise they would have to find another way to plug the hole and using the same bulbs as the rest of the range is probably cheaper.

I would guess the headlight manufacturer supplies the units with bulbs installed for all applications. That would be cheaper for all than having two types of headlight unit and both cheaper and more reliable than having a production line operative opening up the unit in assembly. Seem to remember reading that in the vRS the loom lacks even a connection for that bulb.

I think it's the same with the Fabia II vRS. Sidelight bulbs are in the headlight but not used, as it uses the separate dimmed DRLs as sidelights.

Not very good in my view if you turn off the DRLs then you turn on your parking lights then you would only have tail and number plate light working there would be nothing working in the headlight unit. If you turn the DRLs off then the parking light bulbs should work.

Not quite. Even if you deactivate / turn off the DRL's they still work as sidelights.
