vRS Rally ?!?

Featured Replies

Looking in the midlands autotrader last night and found a Octavia Rally. I don't have it in front of me to quote but the gist of it was:

"better handling, more power, better steering suspension and brakes over the standard RS".

This has thrown me. When i worked as a salesman for skoda we had a rally in, which incidently was a pig to sell, and we only found that it had xenon lamps and maybe cruise over the standard car, apart from the fact it is white with lots of stickers....

So is the rally a better car, or did this guy have is leg lifted when he bought it !?!?

Horners have one they have said it is a Vrs Rally on the ad maybe they are trying to get rid aswell?

The differences are well documented on Briskoda and are -

Xenons

Side Airbags

ESP

White coachwork

Decals

Heated Seats

Deleted rubbing strips

Single Slot CD + 6CD

White Wheels

It's been claimed many times that there are differences in power/handling etc. No one has proved anything, as Skoda say there's no differences, but having driven both standard cars and my WRC spec, I can honestly say that for some reason mine feels slightly quicker off the mark and definitely seems to go round corners 'differently', although I couldn't say why.

??? Horners have a red one?

??? Horners have a red one?

Just looked and its just a crap wording of the ad - its definitely not a WRC edition. All the WRC editions were white with decals and that one just has the normal RS spec listed.

Then it sure as hell ain't a vRS Rally. Just some muppet sales bloke selected the wrong description I'm guessing.

"better handling, more power, better steering suspension and brakes over the standard RS".

Don't believe all the sales patter. The vRS and WRC are the same cars albeit with the differences described above. Mechanically etc they're identical. Maybe the go faster stripes actually work though :D

I thought the WRC model was also rated a 205bhp. Thats what DM Keith in Bradford had there's advertised as for ages in the showroom. Took them an eternity to sell it. ( I think they actually made a loss on it, just to get rid of it, which is a shame coz I thought it looked kewl in those transfers)

Limited editions of the Octavia vRS rally models, only 100 of them in the world. We have one here in Dubai in the showroom for sale...originally came with stickers, saw it when i got my fabia....stickers now removed, all white with white rims, resprayed and polished and finally for sale. The one we have here is the 51st model out of the 100 in the world, there is a badge above the hazard lights inside that states the edition.

i saw the same advert this morning and wondered what he was on about, perhaps he's been led to believe the rally really was better by far over the "standard" vRS...

one thing...are the wheels made of the same material to the standard vRS wheels? was just thinking along the lines of weight is all... with heated seats, airbags, xenons and headlights washers etc i would thought the WRC would be heavier than a standard spec vRS and thus slightly slower 0-60... without official confirmation from the factory whos to know though huh !? maybe the engines in the WRC were bench tested like Renault did with the clio cup lumps... i know that made a difference to the 172 and cup models actual output.
