How much can you tweak a diesel Yeti?

Featured Replies

So we've got a few modified Yeti on the forum now.

I was wondering how much power you can squeeze out of a diesel Yeti...

What can you take a Yeti 170 up to?

Oh sounds as if someone is twitching to get a new Yeti to match the old TDV8 RR's performance?!

:D

My mkI Fabia is rather nippy. (link in sig)

Much quicker than the Rangie was.

Just curious... ;)

And you certainly did not get 60mpg from the RR!!!

I think 205 is acheivable with a good remap and possibly 215ish with DPF removal, before any more radical mods?

Ask the Octy boys - lots of them have done this - or Ben @ Shark will know....

I think if you're after a rapid Yeti you're better off starting with a 1.8TSi 4x4. I think they can remap to circa 220-230bhp right out of the factory and then you can change other things and I suspect getting 300bhp wouldn't be too difficult.

To do that I'd have to get my wife to pass her manual test, then use it for running round the village instead of the 1.2 DSG.

Not sure I could handle 35mpg anymore as I do 500 miles a week. I hate spending half my life in petrol stations.

Good idea, but some persuasion probably needed. :D

500 miles per week?

You'd certainly notice the extra MPG and range in the tank, perhaps your next project should be fitting a subtank to a Yeti?

That's why I love my Greenline II Fabia James.

My dad has a 1.8 TSI Yeti 4x4... maybe I should persuade him to get it up to 300bhp

I think 160bhp is enough for him, besides, if he gets anymore he'll be quicker than me :D

James, I do about 800miles a week in my mondeo and I'm hoping that when I'm allowed to order the Yeti greenline that I'll see a massive improvement in mpg. The mondeo is only doing 42mph :(

Oh how the months are going to drag until October when I'm allowed to place my order then wait till March 2012 to actually get hold of it :( I'm hoping it will be worth the wait!

I do about 400 miles a week and am currently get just under 50mpg.

Standard remap will get you around 205bhp but 225 - 230bhp is easily obtainable with DPF removal. As previously mentioned 'ask the Octavia vRS boys'.

... but does this mean you need a DSG gearbox? In which case you're lumbered with the CR140 only.

We have a diesel seat fr 170 leon on our fleet at work we had a dpf issue as it does low mileage and kept backing it to seat who really didn't do much more than we could turning lights out and regenerating the dpf etc.

So we decided to dump the dpf and had a miltek decat / dpf pipe fitted it now is incredable pushing about 230bhp but on the downside it's also had a clutch and flywheel plus a new recirc valve and injectors so yes you can have more but it could cost if you go too far.

Oh and when i test drove it last i cooked the front discs lol which i also had to change

Peter

By the way my 140 tdi 4x4 is pushing about 168bhp with a tunit variable tuning box and k&n filters , i'm happy with that and even though i could easily dont want to push it too far as economy is also important in my usage
