Tyres for a Suzuki Swift

Featured Replies

Tyre size is 185 60 R15

Parents will need two tyres for their Swift as well as tracking. I want a good tyre but not something top of the range and too expensive since my parents don't want to spend too much. It's on Conti's atm but I want something that still handles well and doesn't spoil the fun of the car. It handles pretty well as it is. Hoping to buy them online and get them fitted. Any ideas?

Edit: I know it's not a Skoda but just need a decent tyre recommended that lasts but still handles

Wife has Kumho's on her swift, decent tyre for the price, think they were around £50.

What's wrong with more of the same? Too expensive? Any other issues? How much of the requirement for 'handling' is down to you and how much is from your parents?

Loads of people seem to like Uniroyal ... they're owned by Continental.

Ignoring the 'no stock' and the XL tyres, the choice on Camskill's website doesn't look particularly inspiring however I noticed T-rated Continental Premium Contact 2 are at £60 each plus delivery.

Around £60 a tyre is all he really wants to spend. The Conti's were good but have worn pretty quickly. Both me and my parents agree on how well the car handles and don't want to spoil it by putting cheaper rubber on. My mother drives it most of the time and me and my dad tend to drive it in the evenings and weekends, normally spiritedly so a good tyre is needed.

The risk with replacing two tyres and getting something different is that the handling may be adversely affected. If the car is driven like a shopping trolley any imbalance probably won't be noticed, but if the car is driven enthusiastically the risk is there.

If the new tyres are going on the back then the fronts will probably wear out more quickly and then there wil be the chance to buy the same again to get all four tyres the same. Any imbalance should then be fixed.

If they are thinking of having the new tyres are going on the front, check the age of the rear tyres.

Tyres were rotated at last service and I reckon all four are about 18mths old
